One question. Two answers. And honestly…it shifted something.
At the recently held
@tedxokumagbaave , I had the opportunity of driving a quick but powerful conversation with two amazing and successful business women from Warri; Ms. Amy Aghomi, Creative Director
@amyaghomi and Mrs. Doubra Emein, Creative Director
@bradeevents and President, TBWC
@thebusinesswomenconnect
And I asked:
“What is one limiting belief we’ve unconsciously accepted in Warri that is quietly holding us back as female entrepreneurs?”
Their responses were very profound! I’ll share with you 😊
First, ignore the noise.
People will doubt you. They will question your vision. They will say “it won’t work.” You will hear things like, ‘For this Warri wey we dey? Abeg rest!’
But if you keep showing up, building intentionally, and refining your value…the same world will eventually recognize and pay for it.
Secondly, choose collaboration over competition.
We don’t need to be threatened by each other. We can actually win together, with less envy, more support and more partnerships.
Because truthfully? We can go far alone, but we go even further together.
This conversation was a reminder that sometimes, the real limitations are the ones we’ve normalized and once we break them? There’s no limit to how far we can go. 🚀
What’s one limiting factor you’ve normalized as a young person living in Warri or any part of Nigeria? Let’s talk about it in the comments 👇🏼
