Red Komodo rigs n tings from a shoot I gaffed last week. On the last slide I rigged a tool to rotate on its center axis consistently for some macro shots. That was a fun one to figure out.
Updated some links on my website today and realized I haven't posted any BTS on this account in almost a year. My bad, I have a ton of photos I can share but here are a few from a spot I gaffed this week.
Big one from a few weeks back. Rigged four S60 Skypanels in a 12x12 softbox, diffused with Magic Cloth. We also had another condor with an M90 towards the back of the lot as an edge.

Figured I'd share a couple set ups from 2 different commercials that I've gaffed over the past week. Gear courtesy of @atlaslightingchicago and their 1 ton transit package. This grip package has been the perfect baseline, with lights a la carte, for these 2 person g&e crew situations. Often times it would be nice to have more budget for crew and more time for set ups, but these commercials usually have so many scenes planned that I'm generally lighting with very broad brush strokes for the sake of efficiency and keeping things very mobile.
Just wanted to share couple simple tabletop setups from this week. Thanks to my guys at @atlaslightingchicago for the gear and @skoach_ for the help. For the first setup I used a @litegear Litemat 4 Plus to key, dialed in some overhead fill with a Litemat 2 Plus, and used a Litemat 2L Plus to bring up the exposure on the wall behind the table. I also used a @hivelighting Wasp 100-C as a kick and threw in a 2x2 bead and some foamcore on the fill side. The second setup is keyed with a Litemat 4 Plus on the countertop and an additional 4 Plus with a @honeycrates grid for the back wall/countertop. I added some backlight to the tabletop with one of my own LED flex panels (since our other lights were being used at the first setup), splashed some hard light on the background for texture with another Hive Wasp 100-C, and also had a 4x4 ultrabounce for some fill.
Pre-rig set up for a round table discussion shoot I'm key gripping. It was my first time using the @litegear 4x8 Litetile and I'm impressed! Such a compact, lightweight unit for the size and quality of light it provides. Our Max Menace handled it like it was nothing.
OH! WOW! SURPRISE! Another day another flooring commercial. AMIRITE?? Like n share if u can relate!!1!one!! Tag your all friends that gaff flooring commercials, pls share #like4like #light4light (For real though, thanks to my crew: Key @skoach_ , G&E @jaxi_cab@anaremore )
It's been a fun week of shooting at the Shedd Aquarium. Can't post any pictures of the animals, but we've been creating educational videos for kids featuring pro athletes and other influencers as guests. It can be tough to keep the kids focused as hosts, but we're meeting some incredible animals along the way. 4 days down, 2 to go. Getting it done out here with @parkernyquist and @skoach_
