Okay, guys. I've literally waited 8 years for this. Back in 2014 Roaring Brook Press asked if I wanted to write my own picture book. My brain immediately went to graffiti. I signed the contract and after years of back and forth, taking breaks for other books, and trying to figure out a story we FINALLY nailed something down and I spent a good portion of the last two years on this project.
It's 100% me and I'm so lucky they even let me make a book like this, a story about a kid named Sam finding a community in a new home through exploration and graffiti.
I don't think I've put this much time and effort into any other project. I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to officially being a picture book author.
The downside is that it doesn't release until October 11th. But I'm really looking forward to seeing this book in physical form. It's going to be great. 🤩

Cover reveal for one more book I illustrated last year, Rooting For Plants: The Unstoppable Charles S. Parker, Black Botanist and Collector written by @janice.harrington.writer available on August 29th through @astrakidsbooks .
I see this book as a spiritual successor to Janice and I’s book Buzzing With Questions. But this time the focus is on plants and fungi instead of insects.

I redesigned my portfolio site for the new year. I started a different design last year but never really finished. It’s nice to have a place where I can be reminded of what I’ve accomplished.
