ELT educator and public speaking coach Hossam Souhaili is the facilitator of the TED-Ed Student Talks group at Elaraki School in Marrakesh, Morocco. Through focusing on student empowerment, Hossam has helped guide over 100 students in more than 15 showcase events to take the stage and share their ideas with confidence, clarity, and purpose. Here, he reflects on the importance of creating a platform for his students: “Speaking in front of people is also leading people. So we wanted to give our students a taste of what it feels to be a leader because I think cultivating these skills at a very young age would be amazing — not only for the school, not only for the students, but also for the future of the world.” Join the TED-Ed Student Talks community to give your students a platform to share their ideas! For the past four years, Usha Krishnamurthy has been a TED-Ed Student Talks facilitator at Tenbroeck Academy in India. During that time, she’s seen how the program has helped students grow into confident, clear speakers and created a safe space where they can be themselves. Here, she reflects on how the experience also impacted her as an educator: “It has reminded me that education is not just about teaching content, but about listening, reflection, and student voice. Instead of giving answers, I focus on asking better questions and creating a safe space where students feel comfortable speaking honestly. Through this journey, I’ve grown alongside my students.” Join the TED-Ed Student Talks community to empower your students and make a real impact in your classroom and school! Here, she offers advice to other educators looking to get involved with the program: “Create a culture where questions are valued, mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, and feedback is kind and constructive.
