It’s hard to put into words how proud I am to work with my daughter, Caitlin Keener, to honor my wife’s memory by launching the Deborah J. Grenlund Scholarship this afternoon. Through this memorial scholarship—managed by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois—members of the LeRoy Commandoes 4-H Club will continue to grow, learn, and lead, carrying forward Deb’s lifelong love of learning and service.
You’re invited to an Open House Tea in honor of Deborah J. Grenlund on Sunday, October 12th, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Farmhouse at Wildwood Metropark.
Please join us for tea, friendship, and remembrance as we celebrate Deb’s legacy and introduce the Deborah J. Grenlund 4-H Scholarship Fund.
Your presence is the greatest gift. If you’d like to help continue Deb’s legacy, opportunities to contribute to the scholarship will be available at the tea and online.
It’s the early 1800s and a group of politicians want Ohio to be an official state. They’re just about to send the paperwork to Congress for approval, when this fur trapper shows up.
The trapper convinces the politicians they’ve drawn the northern border all wrong. So the guys from Ohio decide to just move the line north.
And that starts a decades-long fight between Michigan and Ohio over the border. There are winners. There are losers. And in the end, it shapes the states as we know them.

Gorgeous morning planting flags and paying our respects with great friends at Woodlawn. If you are looking for something to do on Memorial Day, join our flag walk at Woodlawn at 10:00 am. Not into flags? Thats cool. Come check out the tulip trees…they are spectacular!
Look what popped up on my daily memories page. I love me some Inky's, but not for breakfast! This was at about 9:00 a.m., so James took it back to the station for a potluck lunch after we shot our package. No worries. I've made it back to Inky's for lunch and dinner plenty of times since then.
m learning some new digital art techniques and tried a few on this photo of the B. F. Bissman House, 458 Park Avenue West in Mansfield. This beautiful Victorian Queen Anne-style home is special to my family since it was the headquarters for Stanton and Long Insurance Agency in the 1960s. My dad would occasionally bring my brothers and me here on Saturday mornings. We’d run around and play on the phones while he tried to work. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, but sadly, today, it needs some serious love.
