My raggedy old pantalones have been given new life for probably the 5th time! I have another pair that I deem my art pants that I can no longer wear on the daily as they are also on the fringe of life, but still carries with it so much soul and character, I cannot get rid of them. Denise has worked on and artfully used the technique of mending called sashiko. I have pants, shirts and a jacket that has her stitching signature on them.
This is a few cents more than the cheapest regular grade gas in Portland. It goes up to $1.16 more at some places. I imagine as we continue through summer, it will increase even more so.
The recent 1969 Hasselblad 500C, Silver 80mm Planar and film back are working flawlessly. Photographed Canaryus in the studio - window light, tripod and camera.

The Archive project moving forward. I’ve been an advocate to have prints made of important images and I can see I’ve fallen short. Merely starting this project, 4 days in and just over a dozen prints made, perspectives change dramatically when the work is a physical object. My feeling about some images that I thought were strong are less than stellar. It will be interesting as I move deeper into the project and see how differently I see my own work. Frankly, as a larger collection, I don’t think I’ve ever defined my work as a whole. As a means of seeking out truth, sometimes the truth seeks you.
The nature in which this collection of work is being put together is more structured than anything I have done in the past, besides exhibitions that maxed out at 20 pieces. I foresee this 1st go around will accumulate to 75+. As I understand ever more profoundly that prints, the physical object are necessary, I realize this will be an ongoing project. I admire painters, sculptors who could not not create the object.
So excited about the camera, I ran out and did a quick roll. The film back is one of the original ones and I effed up loading the film. Manage to get 7 exposures. Good news is that the lens shutter appears to shoot proper. I’ll shoot more soon.

This camera carries with it a lot of emotions. I’m grateful to be the care taker of this 1969 500C Hasselblad. The lens, film back, waist level viewer and knobs, if not original (and certainly could be), are period correct. It will be an inspiration to send film through it. It will not be a shelf queen, but will fit in nicely in the cycle of cameras I shoot with.

My hero paper arrived today for my Archive Project. It is closely mimicked by a less expensive lustre paper that I’ll use to proof images that I’ll print on the more elegant baryta paper. I never really liked glossy papers as even as far back during my silver gelatin days, I always loved matte. With ink jet, I sometimes don’t get the blacks that I want. Lustre and gloss papers don’t have that problem. When Jamie suggested a semi gloss baryta paper and seeing her results, I knew a change was coming. This paper also mimics silver gelatin by feel and look. For the first time, I feel I can print up any image and come up with exactly what I envisioned. I was so confident that I bought a 100 sheet box. My first few tests are not tests at all, but hero prints that will go in the box.

One more coming, but I still need more pigment. The idea is to print images that are important to me, sign, stamp and file.

… and shoot more large format.
I got up this morning and searched for this. I must have 5 or 6 journals that I have rotating around as I lose them, start another, lose that one… find an old one, etc… Good luck trying to chronologically keep up. I am making a concerted effort. :-)
