Happy to announce our premiere of “Enter The End” by Technologies of Consciousness in this year’s @festival_filmsurlart Festival International du Film sur l’Art! Thank you to Nicole Gingras, @primcentre PRIM - Centre d’artistes, @main_film Main Film, @themontrealbiosphere Biosphere Montreal, @conseilartsmtl Conseil des arts de Montréal and REPAIRE @repaire.arts Montréal. Distribution @winnipegfilm Presented only in theatres This film is part of the FIFA Expérimental section program Toucher à distance. Enter the End is a short 16 mm film created by the Montréal duo Technologies of Consciousness, composed of Sonya Stefan and @stephatronics Steffé Castonguay. The artists ask the following question: “Where does the conscience reside in the body?” and propose that we are all connected to everything, even when we are dreaming. Technically, Enter the End resorts to several contact printing processes (among others, plants for their photosensitive capacity and ability to generate phytograms) and alternative methods of film development (using various organic elements as developers for filmed images, within the photochemical process). We will be there (directors Sonya Stefan and Steffé Castonguay) on March 15th in Montréal. Université Concordia - J.A. de Sève, LB-125, Pavillon J. W. McConnell FIFA EXPÉRIMENTAL – TOUCHING AT A DISTANCE Saturday, march 15, 2025, 05:30 p.m. — 06:20 p.m.

So excited about this! Thanks to the support of Fluctuating Images, we were able to add a performance to the tour of Montreal based duo @technologiesconsciousness ! TONIGHT 20:00 AT ERRANT SOUND The collective Technologies of Consciousness will give an insight into their performance NUMINOUS MACHINES, followed by a talk. Numinous Machines is an audiovisual performance that explores the enigmatic threshold experienced during near-death. Utilizing macroscopy, modified turntables, and biodiscs, the synthesis of sound and images becomes a captivating journey through a graphical notation governed by the innate law of decomposition. Exploring the connection between touch, sound reproduction, and materiality, the performance delves into the physicality of sound, bridging the tactile art of “turntablism” and techniques that transcribe sound into tangible forms. In collaboration with Errant Sound, MANIFEST:IO, and Liebig 12. Supported by AVATAR, MUTEK; Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts. You can then catch @technologiesconsciousness at MANIFEST:IO 2025 this weekend at Haus Der Visionäre. Feb 22-23 🟡 #biodisc #avperformance #montrealartist #berlintour #berlinart #berlinevent

Step into the world of Technologies of Consciousness (@technologiesconsciousness ) ✨ Motivated by the porous and undefined intersections between art, media, and science, Technologies of Consciousness seeks to define our biological consciousness through our shared potential to feel a deep and meaningful communion with the sphere of Nature. Driven by the spirit of DIY, their projects embrace a radical and popular perspective of non-expertise, demystifying the organic world in relation to the healing of the body, and the processes of decomposition and the notion of the end of the cycle. The collective comprises Stephanie Castonguay, who explores sonic matter through sound installation, performance and experimental electronic instrument making, and Sonya Stefan who blends analog methods, intertwining 16mm film with #touchdesigner to craft her visual landscapes, while also employing contact printing techniques, DIY eco-processing, and macro nature image capture. TOC will perform and speak at MANIFEST:IO 2025, and reprise "Numinous Machines" which they performed at @mutekmontreal 🟡 Proudly an Avatar production (@avatar_centre ). Catch them Feb 22-23 at Berlin's Haus Der Visionaire - link in bio for tickets 🎟️ Early bird ending soon!
