'Indigo dyeing as embodied practice'.
Viveca Mellegård is a Techne-funded research student in partnership with
@kewgardens and
@royalholloway , and her work uses an ethnographic approach to document and visualise embodied practice - the tacit knowledge and skills – embedded in the cultivation and production of natural indigo dye in Bengal, India.
She’s working within the Economic Botany Collection at Kew, but is currently in West Bengal, India with a group of indigo farmers who have just harvested their latest crop and are now dying with the freshly picked Indigofera leaves.
