Tech Goes Home Tennessee (TGH TN) is The Enterprise Center's digital inclusion program for residents across the state. While our primary focus area is Chattanooga, where the program began as (and is also growing as) TGH CHA, our statewide expansion allows us to prioritize Early Childhood Educators and Older Adults in both rural and urban communities.
We're partnering with schools, public libraries, churches, nonprofits, and other organizations across Hamilton County to offer free courses designed to help residents develop skills and habits required for smart technology and Internet use. Participants receive fifteen hours of classroom training to help them understand why the Internet is relevant in their daily lives, have the option to purchase a new Chromebook for only $50, and receive assistance in obtaining access to low-cost home Internet.
TGH CHA + TGH TN are modeled after the national, award-winning Tech Goes Home program. Founded in Boston, Tech Goes Home has successfully provided participants with the tools, education, and access required for 21st century skills development since 1999.
Tech Goes Home Tennessee helps teachers gain access to technology:
“Tech Goes Home helped me in many ways. It realigned my classroom components. Now I teach my students how to use the Chromebooks, apps, coding and tech-savvy approach to troubleshooting. I’m an eLab teacher and I use my Chromebook every day! Thank you for showing me how to use some digital platforms!” —HCS educator
20,000 graduates. 10+ years. One goal: digital access for all.
This week Tech Goes Home Tennessee, a program of The Enterprise Center, hit a record milestone of reaching 20,000 people across the state—more than half right here in Hamilton County.
What began as a small set of classes in 2015 has grown rapidly, helping Tennesseans stay connected to school, work, and each other with a device, internet skills, and support accessing the internet.
Graduates of all ages and abilities complete 15-hour digital skills courses covering everything from computer basics and workforce development to early childhood education and college and career readiness.
The impact of Tech Goes Home is practical and lasting: graduates can access public resources, strengthen job prospects, navigate the internet with confidence, and bring technology home and to their classrooms.
Here’s to 20,000 people better equipped to navigate life today!
We continue to offer classes in Tennessee, Northeast Alabama and Northwest Georgia. Thank you to the many partners, trainers, and communities who made this possible!
