@techfugees announces Raj Burman, FIOEE has decided to step down as Chief Executive for personal reasons to spend family time for his continual personal and professional growth.
It has been a great honour and privilege to have Raj serve Techfugees for the past two and a half years. Our global community and partners have really enjoyed working with him and express heartfelt gratitude for his support, hard work, and unwavering dedication in supporting inclusion to refugees and those forcibly displaced.
Under his tenure, Techfugees transformed into an extraordinary stable organisation that together with the global community achieved many milestones to overcome various challenges. We are so proud of all the accomplishments made by him and the team, alongside with our global community, members, and trusted partners.
It is business as usual at Techfugees as the organisation is poised to begin an exciting new chapter to prepare for sustained growth in upholding the spirit of "Together, We're Stronger!" to drive forward the cause of inclusivity for those who are forcibly displaced.
Over the remaining three weeks, Raj shall be handing over duties to Chairman & Founder @mikebutcher who will act as Interim CEO for the time being and Olesya Matveychuk, Head of Global Community to drive local initiatives forward.
We wish Raj the very best in his future endeavours as he embarks on a new journey and look forward to him staying in touch.

#WorldRefugeeDay is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It is today, on June 20th. ๐๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐.
๐๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ถ๐ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต. Every minute 20 people leave everything behind to escape #war, #persecution or #terror.
Today, and during the rest of the week, we are organizing a series of discussion to show that action possible. Our belief as #Techfugees is that #technology can facilitate this action and help creating more #inclusive societies.
Our action is possible with willingness, time, energy, work of a community of #volunteers across the world. Non-refugees and refugees together. To state only a few examples, they made possible, this year:
๐ The ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฏ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, energy survival kits and IT material in refugee camps and settlements around the world;
๐ The scaling and technical development, translation, design of impactful ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฝ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ internationally;

On a global scale, web & graphic design, programming and IT tech freelance jobs are the most popular with 59% of gig workers, but over-saturation of talent in these fields is bringing down pay rates. A study found that 18% of Human Resources Directors in the UK believe gig workers will make up 75% or more of their workforce over the next five years.

The Talent Catalog was designed by TBB in collaboration with a number of refugees with tech expertise in #Lebanon and #Jordan. Since its launch in 2016, more than 40,000 refugees have registered.
When refugees enter their #education, #qualifications and professional experience into the Talent Catalog, a CV is automatically generated and available to download and share with potential #employers. The data collected in the Talent Catalog demonstrates the breadth and depth of talent within the global refugee population.
In 2021, TBB chose to #opensource their Talent Catalog software in the hope it might be useful to others in the sector.
