for a long time, i've been thinking about the significance of relationships, and i don't simply mean 's.o.' relationships; i'm talking about all types of interactions, from coworkers to friendships, acquaintances, and, yes, love relationships. the final fact i've discovered is not really surprising. it does not shift any paradigms, but it is a fact nonetheless.
i've been reflecting a lot on my interactions with everyone, and this legislation encapsulates it perfectly. in a particular relationship, it felt more like i was putting in 80% of the work and they were only putting in 20%, as opposed to an equal partnership where i put in 50% and they put in 50%. i always tell myself that it was "worth it" when i consider why i would sacrifice so much and give so much for very little in return. in a sense, it makes sense. i thought that what i contributed was equal to the small amount they gave. i told a falsehood.
is this relationship legitimate in theory? it wasn't a healthy one, though. i have finally realised that i no longer hold myself accountable for every relationship i have. the other person should be held accountable for their role in the relationship; i don't have to do everything all the time. it is a bidirectional highway.
most of u will not even get to this section of the reading. if u do, i sincerely appreciate it since it shows that u value me enough to wade through this jumble of words and musings. my final remarks on this are that if u believe u are the sole buoy in the relationship and have done all possible to keep it afloat, u should reconsider the value of the relationship. are u satisfied with it as is? are u satisfied with it and are your demands being met? if not, perhaps it's time to let it sink, and if it actually means something to the other side, they might do the holding for a bit…
