There was something really special in the room this Sunday. 🤍
As @teastanzas shared a beautiful spoken word piece about the strength, power, softness, and resilience women carry, the room was filled with hugs, conversations, laughter, tears, mariachi, and genuine connection @mariachi.hermanas_del_corazon . Women from all walks of life coming together to remind each other that we are capable of so much more than we sometimes allow ourselves to believe.

Social norms left little girls like me to grow up believing I had to look, present, sound, or be shaped a certain way to be loved, which led me to harm and reshape my natural body as my body was still growing into who I am now. Now I’m unlearning those beliefs and healing my body image, self-worth, and what I deserve.
Poetry has helped me unpack so much, and “The Condition” has given me a chance to be emotional in many ways.

Have you heard of the term hourglass syndrome and how society contributed to this negative view that many people have? It’s common to experience, but not discussed much.
As a plus sized poet, and an advocate, I feel it’s right that I share my story on my experience. Remember you are loved, and your body is still sacred no matter what.
