Inspiring Excellence Among Airborne Troopers, CSAFP Recognizes Outstanding Special Forces Operators
Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., visited the 2nd Special Forces โSabertoothโ Battalion, Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), at Camp General Servillano Aquino on May 15.
During the visit, General Brawner conferred awards to the outstanding personnel in recognition of their exemplary service, professionalism, and steadfast dedication to duty. He was joined by Brigadier General Eros James M Uri, Regiment Commander, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Jerry B Jaucian, Commanding Officer of 2nd Special Forces Battalion.
In his remarks, General Brawner underscored the demands and sacrifices of military service, saying: โHindi madali ang trabaho ng ating mga sundalo. It is a difficult and demanding profession, and we are willing to offer our lives for our country and our people.โ He added further encouragement to the troops, urging them to take pride in their service, remain steadfast in their duty, and stay loyal to the Constitution and to the flag.

AFP Chief Visits Special Forces Regiment, Urges Troops to Uphold Loyalty and Service
General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) visited the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), Philippine Army at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija on May 14, 2026, reaffirming the AFP's commitment to service and professionalism.
The AFP Chief was welcomed by Brigadier General Eros James M. Uri, Regiment Commander, alongside officers and enlisted personnel of the unit. The visit underscored the AFP leadershipโs continued engagement with frontline units and recognition of the vital role of Special Forces operators in safeguarding national security and supporting peace and development efforts.
In his message, General Brawner commended the troops for their dedication and sacrifices emphasizing the importance of discipline, patriotism, and loyalty in carrying out their mission.
โContinue doing good service for our country. Be proud of the uniform you wear and always be loyal to our Constitution, our people, our organization, our country and our flag,โ General Brawner said. AFP Recognizes Excellence with Promotion of Senior Military Leaders
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) led by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr PA donned new ranks on five promoted generals and flag officers in a ceremony held on May 12, here.
The promoted officers were led by Major General Ronaldo V Juan PN(M), Deputy Commander of the Intelligence Command. Also promoted were Commodore Carlos R Ruiz III PN, Commander of Joint Task Force Malampaya, Western Command; Brigadier General Montano B Almodovar PA, Chief of Staff, Strategic Command; Commodore Ramilo B Trinidad PN, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, AJ1; and Brigadier General Crisanto G Prado PA, Chief, Procurement Service.
The ceremony underscored the AFPโs enduring tradition of recognizing merit, dedication, and exemplary leadership among its officers. Each promotion reflects the institutionโs confidence in the officersโ ability to assume greater responsibilities in the service of the Filipino people.

The Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), was named the National Capital Region (NCR) Qualifier for the 2026 Gawad Lingkod Bayan (Group Category) during an awarding ceremony at Foro de Intramuros, Manila on May 12, 2026, in recognition of its innovative and compassionate public service for military pensioners, veterans, and beneficiaries.
Led by Commodore Luideger C. Casis PN, Chief of PGMC, AFP, the team composed of LTC Ranger A. Cerilo (ARM) PA, MAJ Israel C. Soquerata (SC) PA, MAJ Jayson N. Luces PN (M), and Sgt. Edelyn Ruby C. Laganipa (MI) PA earned the recognition for the HEROES Program, the centerโs flagship initiative that strengthens support services for AFP pensioners, surviving spouses, and beneficiaries through responsive and people-centered programs.
Guided by the principles of โPuso, Dangal, at Galing para sa Beterano at para sa Bayan,โ Team PGMC continues to uphold its commitment to honoring the sacrifices of soldiers and their families not only through remembrance ceremonies, but through programs that directly improve the lives of military retirees and beneficiaries. Anchored on the principle of โService Beyond Retirement,โ the HEROES Program promotes efficient, humane, and compassionate service delivery within the military community.

AFP Chief Highlights Integrity, Readiness in Customs Police Special Operations Graduation
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. underscored the vital role of the Customs Police Rapid Intervention Group in combating smuggling, illegal trafficking, and transnational crimes during the Special Operations Training Graduation Ceremony held at the Bureau of Customs grounds in Port Area, Manila on May 11, 2026.
A total of 29 trainees composed of one officer and 28 non-commissioned officers completed the rigorous training program aimed at enhancing operational capability, discipline, leadership, and readiness against evolving security threats.
โOur nation is facing evolving security challenges. Issues such as smuggling, illegal trafficking, transnational crimes, and other threats undermine not only economic stability but also public safety and national security. Your work may not always be visible to the public, but it is vital,โ General Brawner said, as he also reminded the graduates to uphold integrity, discipline, and professionalism in the performance of their duties.
During the ceremony, Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno presented a plaque of appreciation to General Brawner, while Police Brigadier General Nolasco K. Bathan (Ret), Deputy Commissioner of the Enforcement Group of the Bureau of Customs, formally confirmed the graduates of the training program.
