To say this moment feels surreal would be an understatement. Graduating from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy is a true honor — and doing it while working full time as a policy advisor makes it feel that much rewarding.
For the past two years, I have shown up to class after long days on the Hill, submitted papers between client calls, and pushed through moments where I genuinely wondered if I could do it all. But here I am. And I am so proud.
None of this would have been possible without God — whose grace carried me through every deadline, every doubt, and every late night when I had nothing left. None of this would have been possible without my family, who have cheered me on every step of the way. And none of this would have been possible without the most incredible support system a girl could ask for — the friends, mentors, and colleagues who believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself.
Georgetown, you have shaped the way I think, the way I lead, and the way I serve. I am forever grateful.

On July 13th, 2022, I asked the question, “Do you think Howard is a good enough college to send me to an institution as prestigious as Columbia?”
Today, I can finally answer that question for myself.
Howard didn’t just prepare me academically, it refined my purpose. Soon, I will be studying Nonprofit Management at Columbia University, continuing the work God placed on my heart long before I ever stepped onto a campus.
As a survivor of domestic violence, I have dedicated my life to restoring and empowering women and children trapped in abusive situations. Through Beauty for Ashes, inspired by Isaiah 61:3, “to give them beauty for ashes,” I plan to create spaces for healing, rehabilitation, safety, and restoration for those who have endured what was meant to break them. The tattoos written across my body are more than ink, they are reminders of survival, faith, purpose, and the promise that pain can become purpose.
But my mark on the world does not stop here. I also plan to build initiatives that expand educational access and mentorship opportunities for underserved youth throughout the South, creating safe environments where children can dream bigger, achieve more, and see possibilities beyond the limitations placed around them.
This is bigger than me. Bigger than a degree.
This is legacy work.

Crowns are placed on heads, but royalty is a quality of the heart.
I’ll be honest: I would’ve never seen myself in this role. God called, I answered, and I’m so glad I did.
In my first semester, I was told you either learn to swim with the big fish or drown in doubt. Stepping into the role of Miss School of Business was my way of diving in headfirst. What started as a step of faith turned into a journey of building legacies and opening doors I didn’t even know existed.
Serving as your Miss School of Business has been the deepest honor. I didn’t seek this title for prestige, but as an opportunity to serve my fellow peers and represent our incredible School of Business with poise. Throughout this journey, the Lord has reminded me that real leadership isn’t about the applause, but about having a heart, humility, and wisdom from the divine source.
This chapter is closing, but the impact is lasting. Looking back on this journey, I see growth, resilience, and a legacy that was built with love.

Dear Howard University,
This is my goodbye letter to you. You’ve taught me some of the hardest lessons I’ll ever learn. You taught me about myself and showed me that success is limitless.
Four years ago, a small-town Kentucky girl had a dream: to make a change and create an easier path for those who would follow. I am proud to say that Howard, you did not make me, but you gave me strength and helped shape me. Along the way, I faced challenges I didn’t know I could overcome, but God gave me the strength, wisdom, and faith to rise above them.
I am proud to say that it was not by my own doing, but by His grace that I have grown, learned, and been shaped into someone ready to step boldly into the world and leave my mark.
So here I stand, full of gratitude, full of purpose, and full of faith. Thank you, God, for never letting go, and thank you, Howard, for shaping me into someone I’ve always dreamed to be.
