Meet us, the co‑owners of The Statuary — Rachel Ryll (CEO) and Ted Chubb (Artistic Director) — partners in life, in music, and in the work of shaping this space we love. Together, we bring decades of experience in community building, arts administration, and professional musicianship to guide The Statuary. Over the past 5 years we have hosted thousands of our friends, neighbors, community members, and general music lovers to over 50+ concerts in our home situated in Jersey City Heights. As CEO, Rachel leads our strategy, partnerships, and community engagement. Her focus is on accessibility, artist support, and cultivating an intimate environment where creativity can thrive. Over the past several years, she has strengthened The Statuary’s identity as a home for diverse programming, free community concerts, and artist‑centered initiatives that reflect the cultural richness of Jersey City. As Artistic Director, Ted curates the musical direction and production of the venue, drawing on his long career as a jazz trumpeter, bandleader, educator, and arts executive. His programming highlights world‑class musicians, emerging artists, and cross‑genre collaborations that honor the depth and breadth of today’s jazz landscape. Together, we steward The Statuary as a live, work, and presentation space dedicated to authenticity, inclusion, and the shared experience of live music. This partnership — and the energy behind it — is what will carry us into our sixth year at The Statuary. We look forward to welcoming you at The Statuary. Wow, what an afternoon. First record release date for “Live At @thestatuary ” on @circle9records was a huge success at the stunning St. Paul’s Chapel “Jazz at One”. A huge thank you to @trinitychurchnyc and @jazz_house_kids for such a special series. Clip 1 - “Empty Hearts” - Bruce Williams Clip 2 - “Django” - John Lewis An incredible debt of gratitude to my band. The music on our new recording is informed by relationships that span over two decades. It an honor to play with these musicians every single time, and I am twice as lucky to call them my brothers. Yours Truly 🎺 @bigsolid11 🎷 @oscarperezmusic 🎹 @tomdicarlobass 🎻 @iamjeromejennings 🥁 #jazzcommunity #nycjazz #jazztrumpeter #trintychurchnyc #jazzhousekids

My 5 favorite jazz records of the last 25yrs. Again this list does not represent what might be considered the most influential or important records, it’s just the 5 that when I really thought about it I had kept coming back to over and over. I also found it interesting that these selections are quite different than the music from prior to the year 2000 that makes up the bulk of my listening. The more recent records are often more quiet and subdued, maybe that just says something about me getting older, or just trying to find some peace in this world we live in. Please share your 5. There are so many incredible artists in our world today, I think it’s important that we continue to check out the music of our time while we continue to dig and investigate our past. Nicholas Payton - Relaxin With Nick 2019 Brad Mehldau Trio (Live) 2008 Charles Lloyd - Hyperion With Higgins 2001 Pharaoh Sanders & Floating Points - Promises 2021 Bill Frisell with Dave Holland and Elvin Jones 2001 Cécil McLorin Salvant - The Window 2018 (Yes, I know I cheated and added 6) #jazzvinyl #listentotherecords #jazz #jazzcommunity #listentomusic
