I was having too much fun putting this together I forgot to record my chaotic process. I tried new experimental things like hammering wet flowers into the print and collaging together scrap cut outs from failed wet cyanotype prints. Love the final results. @jacquardproducts #cyanotype #nashvilleartist #cyanotypeart
I’m finally getting the hang of the wet cyanotype process, known for its beautiful, imperfect reactions. I used red wine vinegar, salt, dried tulips, and turmeric powder to create organic color shifts and textures. Some of these effects come from pH changes and natural dyes, while tannins (from plant materials) can also react with the iron in the print to create deeper, warmer tones. Excited to try more in the coming months! @jacquardproducts #cyanotype #tannin #chemistry #blueprint
I’ve been putting together some really special DIY sunprint kits for the market, and they’re finally finished.
I pressed botanicals I found on my walks through the village (took about two weeks), then carefully packaged pre-sensitized cyanotype paper so it wouldn’t catch even a hint of sunlight. I spent a lot time writing thorough directions in hopes it sparks the same joy I felt when I made my very first print.
Each kit also includes a timely prompt for any creative who needs a little inspiration this month.
There will only be 5 available at the market—a small test run, and I’m really hoping every print turns out beautifully. 🌼💙 @ohvillagemkt
Come see me at @ohvillagemkt next Tuesday! I’ll have
🦋 Prints featuring local botanicals and landmarks
💙 A few framed originals
💌 Blind date with a sunprint kits
🌀 and anything else I manage to create this weekend before the market.
Using transparency paper in the cyanotype process has been quite the learning curve for me. Shadows and highlights vary widely depending on exposure times and the contrast of the negative itself. I love that this process continues to challenge me in new ways.
Excited to see everyone at the first @ohvillagemkt 🫜
This is going to be the CUTEST little 3x3 framed print of our Village landmark. 💙

★ Stargazer study ★ lately I've been adding texture and lowering contrast by exposing the paper for a couple of minutes before placing anything on it. That soft blue undertone replaces the stark white and creates a much gentler base. I have to say, I love this direction and will be leaning into it more in my work. #cyanotype #cyanotypeprint #nashvilleartist #sunprint
