Since the day I was born till his last breath, my father was an extremely religious man. So much so that he named me after a biblical mountain, Mt Moriah. A sacrificial mountain where Abraham was requested, by God, to sacrifice his only son Isaac as a symbol of his devotion & faith.
I am my mothers only biological daughter, she had been waiting very long to birth me, & must have agreed the name was fitting.
Throughout my life, I always had a deep devotion to my parents, no matter how tough the connection may have gotten throughout the years; it was something that needed constant cultivation and patience. I always wanted to help my father, as he was a burdened man with many struggles. I strove to be someone he could depend on when in need, no matter our differences, & I can say I did this till his last breath. He taught me to not be afraid, he drilled it into my heart to never tell a lie, & to never live a lie. He raised me to have vindication, & he pushed me to stand up for myself. Since I could speak I was taught how to stand my ground & prepared to fight for my life against a corrupt system, to never pledge love for, aligance to, or idiolize a flag, to hold firm to our values & beliefs as a family... & also, "sorry kid but Santa's never gonna be real" was the first of many harsh truths. I was raised well beyond my years out of the gate. My father reminded me of "Captian Fantastic" - a single father (minus the bus) & I with 6 other siblings. He exemplified hard work and what sacrifice was for those you loved. He never let me give up, pushed me to seek more, & gave me the strength & dignity to fight for what I believed in. He gave me my taste in music, film, dance, photography, & my love for outter space. He showed me passion & profoundness in all life's beautiful things. He taught me so much about courage & what it means to have complete faith. He made life magical & is the reason I seek truth in all things. He is now in his majesty and I am grateful for him and my mother for making me who I am today; Born for this life, shitty cards and all.
I honor his faith, I honor my past, and I honor my future generations.
