Director @rupertmsanders new big-screen take on ‘The Crow,’ starring @billskarsgard_ , has arrived.
Skarsgård steps into the role of goth rocker Eric Draven, who, along with his lover Shelley (played by @fkatwigs ) , are brutally murdered when the demons of her past catch up with them.
The first iteration of the film, starring Bruce Lee’s son, Brandon Lee, was a solid success at the box office, but resulted in the untimely passing of the actor due to a firearms stunt gone awry—just as he was on the brink of becoming Hollywood’s next action star. Sanders makes it clear that his new film is an entirely different take on James O’Barr’s source material, but he also considers it a tribute of sorts to Lee’s memory.
“Brandon was an original voice and I think he will always be synonymous with The Crow and I hope he’s proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve brought the story back again,” he tells VF. “There’s a real fragility and beauty to his version of ‘The Crow’ and I think Bill feels like he is a successor to that.”

“Knox has a strong aesthetic incorporating layers of ground in dirt, grease, scars, tattoos and facial hair.
His hair needed to be practical for his job but also in line with the style in mechanical. We took his sides and back high and very short using scissors for a softer less professional finish. Hair on top left long and blow dried away from the face with a greasy finish. He also has a scar shaved into his hair line.
His Make-up is layers of dirt and some mottling. A couple of small Bondo scars and darkened eyebrows. Shane grew out his beard for us which we darkened and applied a moustache for a fuller look.
Tattoos: The one on his right side is smoke which swirls up his arm and onto his neck overlapped with some mechanical wheels and messy scribbles. His left arm is a pattern made of geometric shapes found around the Mechanical sets. All tattoos are original designs drawn by us.”
