Iāve been working hard to become a more expressive performer, and I felt myself finally break through that wall during this edition of Gardens of Babylon. To feel it is one thing, but to see how it translated to the audience & photographer is an entirely different joy all together.
Itās wild to look back at the last 2 years and see how I went from someone who was scared to dance in public, to someone so readily comfortable with being seen. Iāve come a long way and I am excited that I still have a long way to go.
The journey of flow is endless and transformative in ways I could have never imagined. How wonderful it is to be able to grow, evolve, and (to keep it to the GoB theme) come out of my cocoon a little bit more each day, each gig, and each dance with my friends š¦.

When teaching Iām often asked how to adapt - how to adapt to wind, to silks catching, to unexpected challenges. My answer is usually this - just keep flowing. Allow the challenges to cultivate unexpected creativity. You will constantly find yourself surprised by how limitations (self imposed or otherwise) can encourage you to find new ways of movement, new approaches to expression.
For a long time Iāve resisted training (or even using) my LED veil fans. These beasts are a crowd favourite, but are my absolute least favourite prop to use. They are nothing but limitation. The weight is too heavy, the size is too large, the fabric isnāt silk, the wires tangle (or break) constantly, and the battery life lasts a maximum of 12 minutes, usually fading out earlier, right when you finally feel your flow. Nothing I ever want to do works, my technical tricks never hit, and I always feel frustrated and tempted to stop, howeverā¦.when I let myself relax in to it, Iām always in awe at the result.
Just like life (apologies for the cliche), you canāt always have it how you want it. But sometimes (more often than you expect), things do work out and you find yourself and expression in ways you could have never thought to imagine.
