“This piece reflects a complicated resentment that I had held for years. My mother passed when I was 9 years old. My father, who is not reflected in the piece, passed when I was 23. I began to resent older adults who seemed to milk their parent’s death. My thought was, “but you had so much time”. Although I knew my resentment was illogical, I still battled those feelings of disdain. I chose the medium that I did to express my coldness, and the tedious process added to the figurative layers of my contempt. When handling, there is a very real chance that it could cut the viewer, which further reflects the damage my resentment had.”
Tara Morris is originally from Houston, Texas and moved to Fernley, Nevada in 2022. She is currently finishing up her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Art Studio at the University of Nevada, Reno. After discharging from the military, Tara had one goal, and that was to be happy again. To begin a journey of healing Tara dove into the creative journaling world and wanted to inspire others to create as well. Her philosophy is that anyone can make art, nothing must be perfect.
“My work primarily focuses on themes of self-expression and personal discovery. From a young age I struggled with my identity and a sense of belonging. I was obsessed with this idea of being “normal” because my life did not reflect what I saw around me. Through my practice I engage with feelings around grief, womanhood and sobriety. This allows me to reach the viewer and invite them to confront their own feelings surrounding their sense of self.”

The only way to get some Tarably Creative during the month of May will be the collage sheets over on Patreon. Shop is closed untill further notice (hopefully back open in June) and there is no sub kit for May either. If you are currently subbed, you have been skipped for May. The reason for this all is because we're MOOOOOVING 🤪🎉🥳 AND AND AND, I will finally have a big enough studio to do all the things. I also have been thinking of making another sub tier for physical stickers, but they are just the collage sheets in sticker form..I really loved a kit I did a while back with collage friends and so I think that'd be fun?
