In partnership with @kendrascott and benefitting @ujimacommunity : The National Center on Violence Against Black Women, we had a magical evening of conversation and collective care in community with Black women fighting to build a more brilliant, bold and beautiful world.

What an honor to be part of yet another deeply needed discussion. Following Andrea Ambam’s deeply moving play, “Date of Release,” I had the privilege of guiding the audience through a brief meditation. This moment of collective stillness was a bridge—helping us process the emotional weight of the play and ground ourselves for the powerful panel discussion that followed.
The conversation, Finding Release: Somatics, Restorative Justice, and Decarceration, was fueled by the expertise and passion of our moderator Rad Pereira and fellow panelists Roslyn D. Smith and Shu’aib Abdur-raheem. We dove into the need for healing and restorative justice to transform our criminal justice system. It was a beautiful example of how we can use art to spark dialogue and create space for profound community healing.
