@tapioca.recordings is a humble root—chewy, smooth, and sweet—shaped into endless forms. Inspired by its versatility, we created a project that offers artists true creative freedom, where every release is its own unique flavor. With each event, we highlight the importance of being present—just like sharing a tea with a friend. Launched in early 2025 by @nathanalzondj with a debut release on wax, Tapioca is a narrative-based label with an ever-expanding universe. It was born with a clear vision: freedom for artists, a distinct aesthetic, and a storyline told record by record. Each release is a new chapter in the journey of Ah-Wan, the bubble tea warrior on a quest for the mythical straw. Every artist becomes a character. Every track, a clue. Their travels took them to a bustling city filled with canals and glowing streetlights: the Kingdom of Amsterdam. Here, amidst the vibrant scenes and lively sounds, Nathan dreamed of creating something unique, a space where magic could flow freely, much like DJ Balding. Inspired, he told DJ Balding, “What if we could blend the magic of all our adventures into a single place? A place where every beat, every tune, is a new spell?” DJ Balding nodded with a twinkle in his eye; he knew this idea held great promise. On the mystical night of November 9th, DJ Balding and his clever toad sidekick, Nathan, will enchant Studio 9 in Taipei, turning it into a realm of magic and music. Although relatively new in the game, the young artist has already garnered a wealth of support, with releases such as “Looking At You” EP on ANOTR’s No Art imprint, or “Heartbreaker” on Yaya’s Tamango Records, gaining support from industry heavyweights such as Chris Stussy, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler and more. On a mission to create a unique experience of house music, Nathan’s dedication can be felt in bounds. A steadfast talent with a “no frills” attitude, what you see is what you get. With Nathan, the real focus is the music - and that’s what sets him apart. Touring all corners of the globe; from Australia to Germany, Indonesia to Italy, the UK and, of course, his home country Taiwan, Nathan has accumulated quite the stockpile of experience under his belt, alongside regularly performing at reputable venues in his new-found home city, Amsterdam such as Thuishaven and Shelter.
