ᐁᐧᐢᑫᐧᐱᑖᑲᐣ wîskwêpitâkan – Sacred Bundle
Adele ᒪᐢᑿᓱᐤᐏᐢᑵᐤ Arseneau
Curated by Jenna Reid 📍 Tangled Art + Disability
📅 May 22 – July 17, 2026 By forefronting the worldview and culture of her Indigenous communities, nehiyaw and Michif artist Adele ᒪᐢᑿᓱᐤᐏᐢᑵᐤ Arseneau has created an exhibit that places celebration and grief in devastating symmetry. These ᐁᐧᐢᑫᐧᐱᑖᑲᐣ wîskwêpitâkan: Sacred Bundles - one for every school named in the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement are nestled in the soft fur of animal hides, returning the sacred bundle of Indigenous children to their culture from which they were stolen. Each of these lives are represented in beauty and vibrancy, so we may witness what violence destroys and life embodies in every tihkinākan. May these ongoing events ever remain in our collective consciousness. — Opening Reception
📅 Friday, May 22, 2026

✨ Upcoming vitrine show! Children of Audacity Miyakah Emon 📆 May 22 - July 17, 2026 In Children of Audacity, Miyakah Emon invites viewers into the Chromaverse — a world shaped by their experiences as a black, neurodivergent artist navigating identity, perception, emotion, and transformation. Through bold compositions, symbolic figures, and immersive visual language, the exhibition reflects a practice rooted in defiance, vulnerability, and radical self-expression. The works explore what it means to exist beyond limitation, embracing audacity as survival, visibility, and becoming. 📍Join us on May 22nd at the Tangled Art + Disability gallery to celebrate our next upcoming shows with our opening reception! More info in the pinned post.

“as if sleep is a game / we play, as if hunger is incidental every day at lunch.” 📖 Read “Hardly Creatures” by Rob Macaisa Colgate (@swing.sets ), from his eponymous, #2026GriffinPoetryPrize longlisted collection, on our website. The poem is paired here with 𝘿𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙍𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙨 (2022; beeswax, wax, plaster, resin, and bronze casting) by @carla.sierra.suarez , from the exhibition 𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖, curated by Max Ferguson (@vivelarevolution1976 ) at @tangled_arts . Here is what Rob Macaisa Colgate shared about this art pairing: “Tangled is a disability arts gallery in Toronto where I used to be poet-in-residence, and their show 𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖 was what made me start considering how to translate visual arts accessibility into literary arts. The artwork by Carla Sierra Suarez displays a plaster replica of a medication blister pack, broken in a jagged diagonal line through the middle. In being tactile-friendly for folks who are blind/low-vision or otherwise prefer touch over their other senses, the art is both about disability and accessible in experience. In 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙡𝙮 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨, I remain curious about how disability poetics can embody not just poems about disability, but poems that make themselves accessible to readers of all abilities.” @tin_house #GriffinPoetryPrize.#RobMacaisaColgate #HardlyCreatures #TinHouse #DisabilityPoetics

🎉 Zine Swap Event: 🗓️Saturday, April 18, 2026, 2:00-4:00PM, EST Tangled Art Gallery: In Person Join us at Tangled Art Gallery for a Zine Swap, presented as part of the exhibition ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ (Naal-Naal) by Pree Rehal. Rooted in DIY and “Do-It-Together” practices, zines act as both medium and method: accessible, intimate, and deeply political. Participants are invited to bring zines to trade—whether handmade or collected. You’re also welcome to come without a zine and simply browse, read, and connect. This is a low-pressure, social space to exchange work, meet other artists and community members, and spend time with Pree and the exhibition. Participants are welcome to bring up to 5 zines to trade. In-Person Accessibility: You do not need to register to come in-person. Tangled is a masked space, with free masks provided. The gallery is wheelchair accessible and equipped with HEPA air filtration. ASL interpretation by Keasha Warrington, Elias Joseph Rose. Light snacks will be available at the event. Please step outside to unmask and/or eat. About the Artist: Pree Rehal (they/them) is an artist-educator currently based in Tkaronto, originally from Tiohtià:ke. They’re a child of immigrant settlers from Panjab. Pree’s artwork is about learning by doing, and the variety in their work (textiles, zines, animation) is led by their neurodivergence, and is about multi-hyphenate identity as a queer, trans, Disabled, brown artist. You can find them online as @stickymangos on Instagram. Image Description: A white gallery wall displays a horizontal arrangement of collages, drawings, prints, and mixed-media pieces, neatly pinned in a line across the upper half. Below, a long, narrow shelf holds a wide variety of zines and small books, arranged side by side with vibrant covers. A warm brown wooden floor is visible at the bottom of the image.
