Providing a safe and positive alternative space for our youth on a Friday night, last night's Teen Takeover with a Purpose was a huge success! From arts and crafts to video games and sports, there was something for everyone.
A special thank you to all our sponsors who helped make this possible.
"There is no greater love than a man or woman that will lay down their life for a friend."
On this National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor our 32 fallen heroes and the hundreds of officers across our nation who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. Through our continued commitment to serve, we will ensure their legacy, courage, and sacrifice are never forgotten.
Teens, do you need somewhere to be tomorrow night? We got you.
Come out to Takeover with a Purpose for music, games, prizes, food, and so much more.
The fun begins at 8:00 p.m. at the NFL Yet Center (3310 E Lake Ave).
We'll see you there!
Join us in congratulating Mrs. Ida Walker on her induction into the 2026 @bbbs_tampabay Hall of Fame.
Her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to empowering and uplifting youth in our community have made a lasting impact on so many lives. This recognition is a true reflection of the difference she continues to make through mentorship, service, and advocacy.
Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Mrs. Ida!
Today, we joined fellow agencies at the Regional Law Enforcement K9 Memorial Ceremony in Temple Terrace to reflect on the impact of law enforcement K9s and remember those we have lost.
This year, we paid special tribute to one of our own, K9 Sniper, who died in November 2025 after years of dedicated service. As part of the ceremony’s tradition, Corporal Nicholas Baez (Ret.) placed a rose at the memorial in honor of his partner and the bond they shared throughout their years together.
K9 Sniper’s watch may be over, but his memory will continue to live on within our department and community.
Takeovers are a community issue, and they require a community response.
We are urging parents to step in. Know where your teens are, know who they’re with, and talk with them about making safe choices this summer.
If you see signs of a takeover forming, whether online or in person, don’t ignore it. Report it by calling 813-231-6130.
Teens, don't forget to join us this Friday at the NFL YET Center (3310 E Lake Ave) for "Takeover with a Purpose." The fun begins at 8:00 p.m., and ends at midnight. Hope to see you there!
Congratulations to Sabrina Fernandez, our Employee of the Month for May 2026.
During a demanding period for the Body Worn Camera Unit, Sabrina stepped up to help lead daily operations, keeping workloads balanced, case reviews current, and the unit running smoothly. She has also played a key role in training and supporting new employees, always serving as a dependable resource for the team. Her professionalism and positive attitude continue to strengthen morale and support a productive work environment.
This National Police Week, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who protect our communities each day. Behind every badge is a story of dedication, family, and commitment to others.
Thank you to all who serve.
More than just a day at the lanes!
Today’s Chief’s Bowling Challenge was all about connection, community, and supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters vision in helping our youth achieve their full potential.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, and made today so impactful.
Last night, on May 8, 2026, officers arrested 22 people between the ages of 12 and 21, as part of a teen takeover.
The large group of teens attempted a takeover in the area of Curtis Hixon Park, causing significant disruptions, fights, and other issues in the park and surrounding areas.
“This type of reckless and criminal behavior will not be tolerated in our city,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “What began as a large gathering quickly escalated into disorder and activity that placed others at risk. Parents need to know where their children are and who they are with...we will continue taking strong enforcement action against anyone who threatens the peace and safety of our community."
