📢 Speaking at the next Tameside Creative Network event, this coming Thursday!📢 Meet Thread and Butter Collective: Thread & Butter Collective CIC is restoring the historic weaving shed at Woodend Mill, Mossley, bringing this long-silent industrial building back into public use as a welcoming community space. Once part of the town’s textile heart, the weaving shed will be carefully refurbished to create a place for workshops, exhibitions, learning, and creative activity, alongside a small café overlooking the River Tame. The project aims not only to preserve the building itself, but also to reconnect people with the stories, skills, and heritage that shaped Mossley. Alongside the restoration, Thread & Butter Collective CIC is already delivering community heritage initiatives, including Threads Weave Stories, a project inviting local people to share memories and contribute to a community quilt inspired by the town’s textile past. The project will be introduced at the Tameside Creative Network meeting, with an open invitation for artists, makers, and local organisations to become part of its future as it develops. Speaking at the next Tameside Creative Network event, this coming Thursday📢 Stefan Pope - artist and puppet making extraordinaire at Global Grooves! 🥳 Stefan is going to lead the network in a one of a kind workshop, starting with a quick history of puppets and how Global Grooves fits into that context. Stefan will then show us some examples, exploring what's important to get right: weight, focus, scale, gravity, and what you can play and experiment with! We will also be exploring different ideas of movement, what that means for the "character", its interactions, and how you start concocting short accessible narratives and conveying them with simple actions in a non-verbal context. Stefan will also lead us through creation and storytelling through play, something often only reserved for children, subverting expectations around childlike play through puppetry. The aim is to help you make space for play in your professional creative discipline, with the main goal to allow more space for creative "flow". This may not only make you feel more free and creative in your practice, but maybe just a little more free in general! I’m so happy with how it’s come together, it really catches your eye as you wander through the market. I’m proud to be part of something that gives local artists space to show and sell their work. It’s the @tamesidecreativenetwork festive arty knees up! We have an amazing community of creatives here in Tameside it’s an honour to house such epic in one space. Alas. make stuff happen. you’re all extremely brilliant.

We're coming to the end of 2025, and nearly two years of the Tameside Creative Network!👏🏼 We have: ✨Learned how to collage like @hardacre.sarah ✨Received a crash course in fundraising from @weareartwithheart ✨Plumbed the depths of online marketing in the arts with @shortsupplymcr ✨Dug through the Tameside Local Archives and met local artists marrying local history with art @webstermartha @chris_anderson_art ✨ Learned all about the wonderful world of carnival arts with @emily_cabasa ✨Brewed the perfect networking potion with @bornandbreddt , with the help of Edie the Dog! And much much more! Thank you to everyone who has come along and contributed, and thank you to the local organisations who have hosted the meetings!
