Hidden behind a quiet colonial façade in Mérida’s historic center,
@latropical_mx reveals itself room by room—an intimate interplay of past and present, restraint and exuberance. What begins as a colonial room opens into something entirely unexpected: a double height modernist space, and then a lush garden and a cooling pool.
Here, architecture dissolves into nature. Palm fronds sway above travertine; ginger plants trace the edges of the water; the sweetness of guava lingers in the heat. The house unfolds in two parts, connected by the garden, as if every movement were meant to pass through this private Eden.
It was here that Carlos Huber first encountered the quiet magic of contrast: colonial and modernist, intimate and expansive, stillness and celebration. Over time, La Tropical became not just a place, but a feeling—one shaped by tropical nights, blooming florals, and the distant echo of fireworks drifting through the air on festive evenings.

Un mundo dentro de otro.
Oculto tras una discreta fachada colonial en el centro histórico de Mérida,
@latropical_mx se revela habitación por habitación: una íntima interacción entre pasado y presente, sobriedad y exuberancia. Lo que comienza como una habitación colonial se transforma en algo totalmente inesperado: un espacio modernista de doble altura, seguido de un exuberante jardín y una refrescante piscina.
Aquí, la arquitectura se funde con la naturaleza. Las hojas de palma se mecen sobre el travertino; las plantas de jengibre bordean el agua; el dulzor de la guayaba perdura en el calor. La casa se despliega en dos partes, conectadas por el jardín, como si cada movimiento estuviera destinado a atravesar este Edén privado.
