Forgiveness hit different today.
I didn’t go there with the intention of cleaning my father’s headstone. I just wanted to see it… to stand there for a moment and reflect. But while I was there, something shifted in me.
As children, we inherit more than our parents’ names, struggles, and stories. We also inherit the responsibility of honor, sacrifice, and sometimes… forgiveness. Even when it’s hard. Even when the relationship wasn’t perfect.
Forgiveness is not pretending pain never existed. It’s choosing not to let that pain define what love still means to you.
So today, I cleaned his headstone. Not because I had to… but because this is how I choose to honor him. This is how I choose to forgive.
Sometimes healing doesn’t look like a conversation. Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway.#Forgiveness
