Slowly posting all my flow videos… (Plotting to secure a brand partner for this summer 🥵) Elements 2024 was technically my first time “performing” with the LED whip. Was it at our own soundcamp and not officially through the festival? Yes. Was I still on stage doing my thang to a couple hundred people? Yes. 😻
Electric Love ⚡️💘 You know when a festival is just perfectly named? This is one of them. Def makes top 3 most picturesque grounds I think I’ve ever had the pleasure of camping & raving at. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to my favourite Irishman, my Uncle Herb. He passed away last week at the tender age of 90 and will be deeply missed. I hope everyone gets to experience people like my Uncle Herb & Aunt Iris 💚
Iris was my Gran’s bestfriend. They went backpacking in Europe once upon a time and she fell in love with Herb, eventually bringing him back to Canada. They lived in Calgary, but anytime they returned to Ontario or Ireland, it was a full blown party—according to my mom. All the laughter and good times must’ve really rubbed off on her because I was named Talia Iris🪻
My memories of them were few and far between until later in life. Iris had colon cancer around 2019 and my mom, living the nearest to them, stepped in to help bring them to all the appointments and make sense of the situation. I had just moved to Ireland for school and would only get to see her once more before she passed (pic 2). Her burial was delayed due to Covid but that ment I could be in attendance and reconnect with Herb (pic 1). He became a regular at our family gatherings and we got to exchange many stories. He still had his accent after all these years…
He was full of anecdotes and old tales of Éire. I wish I recorded his stories because most of them feel locked away when I try to remember them now. I’m so grateful for the power of our family’s connection with them; my parents once visited Ireland and either stayed or visited his sister’s place. When I was at school in Limerick, my residence literally shared a fence with his neice’s place! What a SMALL world we live in. I would go over to her’s to watch Love Island and share a bottle of wine. I even stayed there for a month after school when I was in between places and my travels. It sounds crazy to say that, but good people really do attract good people, and we are much more globally connected than you might think.
If you’re still reading this, know how impactful being an “auntie” or “unc” is to kids, whether you’re blood relation, around often, or not at all. It doesn’t really matter, you can still be a light in their life.🍀
Now go have a strong pull of a Guinness in his memory 🍻 (I bet you can’t top his, slide 14)
