China’s leader, Xi Jinping, delivered a warning on Taiwan to US President Donald Trump, as the two began their summit in Beijing on Thursday, according to China's official news agency Xinhua.
The report quoted Xi’s warning to Trump that if the Taiwan issue were handled poorly, it could lead to a clash and “an extremely dangerous situation.”
The two leaders met in Beijing on May 14 with a heavy dose of pageantry and an exchange of pleasantries. Trump said the talks were “great” but did not answer the questions about Taiwan.
In response, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is China's authoritarian expansionism that causes instability in the Taiwan Strait, and that Taiwan will continue to work with the United States and like-minded countries to safeguard peace and stability across the region.

Stinky tofu is one of the most famous street foods in Taiwan, and the most divisive. Can the iconic dish be too stinky?
A Taiwanese restaurant in San Gabriel, California was forced to remove stinky tofu from its menu due to complaints from neighbors. The city threatened fines and labeled the dish a public nuisance.
Even in New Taipei, a restaurant was fined around US$18,600 last year for odor levels 10 times over the legal limit. This year, the shop is being re-inspected after a user on Threads claimed the smell was causing her severe anxiety.
But what do locals in Taiwan really think?
