Tahereh Mafi is back with a new story set in the “Shatter Me” universe.
TODAY.com can exclusively reveal that “Watch Me,” the first book in a spinoff series, will debut April 15, 2025, and will be set 10 years after the events of “Imagine Me,” the sixth and final installment of her original dystopian young adult series. The story will be told from the perspective of two new leads — though one may be familiar to those who read the original books.
“I love these books. I love these worlds. And I think it’s really incredible that the books are still in print, that people are still reading them,” Mafi, 36, tells TODAY.com. “The idea that I could just come back and play in this world in and of itself really extraordinary.

i’m over the moon to finally be able to share that i’m writing a spin-off series in the Shatter Me universe. 🥹❤️ the title, cover(s) and release date of the first book, WATCH ME, were revealed in a lengthier piece on @todayshow this morning. for more info and a plot summary of the new book, please refer to that article. i’ll try to summarize some other things here:

— there are two versions of WATCH ME: a standard edition and a deluxe edition. both are gorgeous—thank you to the design team at @epicreads and to @alexis_art for all the hard work!—but the deluxe edition is a thing of extraordinary beauty. when i saw a sample of the holographic edges i literally gasped. (when you eventually get your copy make sure to hold it up to the sunlight to watch it shimmer and glow.) i hope you love it. the standard and deluxe editions of WATCH ME are available for pre-order now. link is up in my bio.
— it’s too early to speak about specific content in WATCH ME, but i will tell you this: while the book stands on its own so that new readers can enter the world without having read the original series, you will see all your favorite people again. they are, in fact, essential to the story and the universe.
— the fourth book in the Woven Kingdom series is still coming out next year! i will have more updates for you in the near future, and now that we’ve announced the new SM series i can actually talk about WK a bit more. you’ve all been waiting so patiently for news and i wanted to reassure you that the WK books are still very much alive and well. i’ll be publishing two series simultaneously (two books a year) for the next couple years. 😅
