This Pokémon Illustrator is not only one of the rarest cards in existence but also among the cleanest in condition, as evidenced by the TAG Digital Image and Grading Report (DIG). This card’s centering measured precisely 54.8/45.1 LR x 45.1/51.8 TB, which is within the 55/45 Gem Mint industry standard. The card received a total TAG Score of 955 (Gem Mint 10) on the 1000 point scale, as determined by our multi-patented TAG technology. It is currently the RANK 1, making it the CROWN GEM, TAG Illustrator. With only 39 copies officially distributed, this card was crafted as the prize for the CoroCoro Comic Illustration Contest held in 1997/98. In July 2021, a similar Gem Mint 10 Pokémon Illustrator (graded by another third-party grader) set a world record as the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold/traded (deal value est. $5.275 million.) The card artwork of Pikachu holding a paintbrush was done by none other than the creator of Pikachu, Atsuko Nishida. The Katakana characters “ポケモンイラストレーター” have been inscribed along side the other card data on the top of the transparent TAG slab.

Here are my 5 Panini Tom Brady Kaboom Green cards. These One of One cards are all graded TAG Mint 9. When I started collecting Green Kabooms, I bought them wherever I could find them. PSA, BGS, raw. Since they are 1/1 cards, they only come in whatever slab the original owner decided to grade with. Over time, the inconsistency started to bother me. I wanted the set to feel cohesive. I didn’t want to deal with PSA upcharges, and visually, TAG slabs looked the best to me. Once I crossed a few, the decision was made and everything had to match. From that point on, all Green Kabooms went to TAG. In the end, for a true 1/1, the grade and the grading company simply don’t matter. If I ever decide to sell this card, the buyer either wants this exact card in a TAG 9 slab or they don’t want it at all. There is no alternative example to compare it to. The value is the same whether it’s in a PSA 10 holder, a TAG 9 holder, a BGS 8.5 holder, or even raw. The value is whatever two people agree a 1/1 Tom Brady Green Kaboom is worth at that moment in time. True scarcity will always outweigh grade scarcity.
