As a man, there are few things in life that can truly become generational heirlooms. We don’t have diamond earrings and pendants, or our grandmother’s wedding ring like women might have. We usually don’t get too excited to have grandpa’s old hammer. I have long maintained that 3 of the primary physical things men can pass down for generations are quality, and well cared for, guns, knives, and watches. To our children, and their children, and their children. They are worth the investment.

Spent the last 3 days teaching a private Tactical Rifle 1 class at Tactical Defense Institute. It’s hard to believe I’ve been teaching there 14 years. Of all the classes in that time, this one was special. I taught it with an old school Knights Armament Company SR-15 that formerly belonged to the late John Benner, founder of TDI, mentor, and friend. This was the first rifle class since his passing.
I’m sure he was watching from above while enjoying a cigar. It’s an honor to carry on the legacy he built.

Tried the @achillesheeltactical DOPE drill for the first time yesterday. Shot cold, 23 A, 2 C. I should have pushed myself more. Cumulative time of 6.44. HF 18.79. I liked it. Forces consistency, trust in the sighting system, recoil management, and a solid understanding of predictive shooting. Feel like it will be common place on my range trips.

It just felt like a shotgun day. Focused on beep reaction time, recoil mitigation, and predictive shooting. That push pull thing…. yea, it works. Really wanted 5 hits in 1.0 or under, but not today. Never gonna be sad about some .16 splits with a 12ga. Wherever it is you want to be, you gotta put in the work to get there.
