🗳️ Carta Voting Changes for 2026 🗳️ At the end of each Carta Awards season we reflect on how the process is working. We listen to the comments we receive from the Entrants, Publishers, Judges Voters, etc. and we discuss how we can improve the experience. For 2026, the Carta Awards judging and voting processes have been modified and we want to update you on the changes. How does it work? The five judges on the panel evaluate and review every entry and score them according to criteria that is specific to the category(s) they entered. The score sheets are then submitted and tabulated to determine the highest scoring entries. What's changed? In past years: The ten entries that scored highest scores from the judges in each category were put forward for an online public vote. Awards were given to the Winners and Runners-up in each category that got the most on-line votes. A Judges Award and a TABI Members Award were also given to the Best Tarot Deck. This Year: The Judges will score the entries in the same way. From their combined scores, ✨the judges will choose and present Winner and Runner-up awards to the highest scoring entries in each category.✨ The judges will also put forward a total of 5 entries from each of the Tarot, Oracle and the Publication categories for on-line public voting for the Peoples Choice Award. TABI members will also participate in a separate vote on the members forum for the Best Tarot category. We feel these changes will improve the Carta Awards by focusing on presenting awards to the entries that have been deemed as outstanding in their field by our panel of judges, while still allowing the public a chance to participate by voting for their favorite entries.

@tabitarot Marseille Monday - from our hosts @harandayltarot and Larry: Monday 18th May at 7.30pm (UK) on Zoom (link in TABI forum) This month we have an extra special guest host as TABI Secretary and Tableau Module trainer Mary du Plessis @the.mystics.parlour will be taking the reins. I’m loving the alliteration - Mary’s May Marseille Monday We’re going to incorporate some of the TdM reading basics into tableau-style reading. We’ll do a couple of exercises designed to help recognize the patterns and flow that tableau brings to life and interpret the nuanced layers of meaning in a larger spread. I’m really excited for this as I think TdM really lends itself to tableau reading so I’m sure we’ll all get a lot from it. We Iook forward to seeing you next week. As ever, all are welcome, whether you’ve been before or not, you don’t even need a Marseille deck. It’s a friendly group and you can get involved as much or as little as you like 💕 #tarotreadersofinstagram #marseilletarot

⭐ Volunteer with TABI! ⭐ We are looking for a new Webmaster. We have redefined the role, so if this sounds like something you might be interested in, please read the description below. We are going to be upgrading our website and Free Readers program in the next couple of months (these things just take a little while). When both are established on a firmer footing, the role of Webmaster will involve updates to content only, for example, creating new events pages and updating the CARTA Awards pages, updating text, plugins, etc. The more techy side of maintenance for the new website will be managed by our website hosts. In the meantime, we are hoping to appoint a new Webmaster soon, so you can help us with both! The Webmaster is a committee role, which means you will work with the other committee members in making decisions for TABI, primarily advising on website matters but you will have a say in everything we discuss. Updates to the website are not frequent, but are time-sensitive when they arise. The website is WordPress, currently with Elementor, but we are looking to replace it with another editor, e.g. Divi. All suggestions are welcome! Because this is a committee role, if more than one person applies, we will put it to a members vote in a poll here on the forum. If you are interested in the post, or have any questions, please get in touch! [email protected]

✨ Deck Review: Crossed Destinies Tarot: A Marseilles Deck of Self-Discovery ✨ 🪶and🖌️by Bobby Green @crosseddestiniestarot 🖨️ published by Rockpool Publishing /en-au/products/crossed-destinies-tarot @rockpoolpublishing 🔎 reviewed by Bec Birrell @myinnerwitch The Crossed Destinies Tarot has been sitting on my desk since it arrived and the more I see it, the more I love the strangely alluring mix of aqua and orange. There is something about the colour palette that has been drawing me in to this deck to see more. An unusual journey of mysterious other worldly creatures, mysterious portals and cosmic dimensions await...[S]pend some time connecting with these strange and curious dreamscapes that Bobby Green has created in this deck as a way to explore and transcend versions of yourself. There is much to be gained from mixing up our visual cues to trigger new awareness and stretch our interpretations. The Tarot of Crossed Destinies might be the deck that leads to revelations along the strange and winding path. ✨ TABI Member Blog Post: The Tarot and the 8 Pagan Sabbats ✨ 🪶 by Magenta Long standing TABI member and Tarot reader Magenta explains the relationship between the 8 pagan sabbats and the Tarot, and gives us some related spreads to try. ✨ The Tarot and the Pagan Sabbats, also known as the Wheel of the Year, are deeply interconnected practices, with the Wheel of the Year’s eight celebrations serving as powerful milestones for spiritual reflection, ritual and of course, Tarot use. Each Sabbat aligns with specific themes and energies making them ideal times to consult the Tarot for guidance, intention-setting, spell work and personal growth. The cards can also be used as a focus during any spell work at the time of the Sabbats or for use as a meditation tool. There are several Meditations using Tarot cards which are a powerful practice for deepening self-awareness, connecting with archetypal energies, and accessing intuitive wisdom. By focusing on a single card, you invite a guided inner journey that can reveal personal insights, emotional patterns, and spiritual truths. ✨ Deck Review: The Original Petit Etteilla: A Cartomancer’s Guide To Divination ✨ 🪶 by Caitlín Matthews @tigernacaitlin 🖌️ by Rebecca Birrell @myinnerwitch 🖨️ published by Destiny Books /the-original-petit-etteilla @inner_traditions 🔎 reviewed by Amy Bowker @rekwob8 Etteilla was famously known for his elaborate and confusing methods of reading cards, and that was among Paris contemporaries who at least spoke the same language. So imagine the daunting task undertaken by author Caitlín Matthews and artist Rebecca Birrell in presenting the first ever English translation of Etteilla’s classic 1773 tome, “The Only True Way to Draw the Cards”, and creating an accompanying 33-card deck. I’m declaring the effort a success, though reading with this method will take a bit of practice. ✨ Book Review: Oracle: A Practical Guide to Card Reading, Divination, Prophecy, Omens and Seers ✨ 🪶 by Lucy Cavendish @lucycavendish 🖨️ published by Blue Angel Publishing Australia /shop/books/oracle/ @blueangelpublishing 🔎 reviewed by Cosmic Snail Tarot Kim Goldsmith @cosmicsnailtarot At the start of this new release book published by Blue Angel, Lucy Cavendish specifically requests you use one of her oracle decks. To deepen your practice she also prescribes the use of a Book of Shadows and Light/Journal/Magickl grimoire to document your readings, thoughts and experiences along the way. My homework was to pull a card a day...This is such a simple exercise, but it is really helpful when learning about your oracle deck. Since there is not a standard formula for meanings in oracles, as they are bespoke, it is really an important way to memorise what the cards mean. I am sure many of us wouldn’t dare using an oracle deck for full spreads to a client because of the fear of flicking back to the guidebook each time. Oracle assists you step by step in gaining the confidence to do just that.
