A bit of January was focused on expanding my digital portfolio onto a couple of cool sites.
Got early access to @posterescape new site. Going to be posting my favourite tribute posters and client work there. Grateful to be able to have a spot on there with so many amazing poster artists and designers. Thank you again!
Then finally got around to claiming an IMdb profile for myself since a few of the films I’ve been able to create posters for have pages. You can find me with my name Matthew Burmafalk.

For #artistvsart2025 I wanted to showcase the client work I got the chance to work on and share.
Each project was amazing to help bring to life through exploring ideas to get to tge final design. Every film and docuserise really showcases the amazing talent from around the world world.
Also had the pleasure of collabing with @beaucinematic on the Clean Exit poster. Working alongside with an incredible designer like himself was a treat as well.
I’ve put together a page on my website where you’ll be able to view each project that has been released easily. A couple are still in the festival circuit but when I get access I’ll update the page with them. You can find the link in my bio under Client Work

Excited to share my work I got to do for @kelownafilmfestival 48 Hour film competition that’s running next month.
Ever since I started doing posters, I’ve been wanting to do one in this type of style. Through a lot of mood boarding and design exploration as a team, we came around to making it work out in the end. Happy how it turned out and can’t wait to attend next month.

This past April 30th marked 3 years of 538st Live At Kuipers Peak.
It’s the project that started my journey as a poster designer. Originally I was hired to design merch for the release but it turned into a bigger project.
After all these years it’s still one of my favourite posters I’ve done.
The creative community of Kelowna came together and helped produced an incredible live performance.

Another fun animation exploration. This time I tackled @a24 logo using a charcoal brush found in @adobefresco .
Went the direction of drawing the outline of the logo to create a writing out effect and then jumping straight into filling it.
Exploring this type of animation has been fun. Not sure where it’ll take me but after many years dabbling I’m doubling down and seeing what comes out of it.

Hackers is such a fun movie. It’s really a time capsule of that era of film and 90s culture. With my recent rewatched after a while I enjoyed it even more. It’s one of those movies that doesn’t have the deepest plot but more of a fun movie to flick on enjoy the craziness.
After watching I decided to tackle a tribute poster for it and this one I let my creativity flow. Basing it off of posters where the main focus is an ensemble using a studio shot I found from a promo shoot. Then crafting the background from @dreadlabs Metal Heart Assets to create that Dream Cyberscape background and the using a font inspired by “You Wouldn’t Steal a Car” ad from 04, then finished it off with a texture from @studiojonsson

Full Circle by @yotkoproductions released 2 years ago this past Friday on YouTube.
I cams across it back in the summer of 2024 and was instantly hooked from the opening.
Which lead to a tribute poster back in 2024 and then did a couple of teasers for it last year and now in 2026 I’ve revisited both by tightening up some parts to give them an updated look while keeping the original idea. I’ve also included some lobby card designs that I explored last year.

Black Mirror released season 7 just over a year ago and Common People was one of my favourites from it and top 5 from the series.
What I enjoyed about it is what makes it so real and frankly scary on how real the medical industry is going towards and the tech industry. It’s not just a Sci-fi episode it’s slowly telling us where we’re heading with everything being a subscription model.
I did a tribute poster last year but wanted to breath new life into it and change a few elements around. Using the branding from the in fictional business Rivermind LUX for the colour and type in the poster.
Synopsis
When a medical emergency leaves schoolteacher Amanda fighting for her life, her desperate husband Mike signs her up for Rivermind, a high-tech system that will keep her alive.

Excited to share my motion poster for Midlife Shuffle, one of my favourite projects I’ve done so far in 2026.
While I was designing the poster for @northern_monkey_productions earlier this year I started envisioning how I could turn it into a motion poster but not just fading in and out and thought focusing on the cards in a way as if they were thrown onto the poster and then picked up.
This is one of those ideas that turned out around 93% of how I thought of and the other 7% was fun experimenting.
Now to go back into other posters and breathing more life with motion.

Recently did a playthrough of Dino Crisis 2 and like the first one it was crazy and cheesy but cranked up to eleven like most sequels from that era. This sequel was way more action than survive thriller but just as enjoyable.
Definitely a time capsule of what the early 2000’s were like for games and movies.
Like the first game I would’ve loved a movie based on this game.
For the design direction I went fully into the hud menu/dino files you find around and leaned into that early 2000s style. I was going to do a different title designed but enjoyed what I did with the first one that I kept it.
