In this Screenwriting workshop (and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity) with Mohamed Hesham Obayya, you’ll explore what it truly means to build stories from observation, analysis, and human behavior. Starting from real-life moments and hidden motivations, you’ll learn how to develop ideas, construct complex characters, and shape stories with strong emotional and dramatic foundations. Obayya is an Egyptian screenwriter and journalist who worked in Egyptian and Arab media before transitioning into screenwriting. His work tackles research-driven and socially complex topics, including sexual exploitation (60 Minutes), extremism (Bi Tolo’ El Rouh), religion and politics (Resalet El Imam), surrogacy and abortion (Selat Rahm), and digital betting (Montaha El Salahia). He has won multiple awards, including Best Screenplay at the Arab Drama Critics Awards for Bi Tolo’ El Rouh, and contributed to Fi Kol Osbou’ Yom Gomaa, which was nominated for an International Emmy. His debut feature film Banat El Basha premiered at Cairo International Film Festival 2025.
