Artist Biosketch: Akanbi 🧬 Wednesday April 22nd @bossanovacivicclub 10pm - 4am Free all night Akanbi is a fountain of energy whose passion and enthusiasm for music & humanity is undiluted and unmatched. Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, with limited access to the internet but a huge thirst for new music, Akanbi moved to NYC in 2010 and immersed himself head on into every corner of dance music, as a serious dancer and, eventually, a DJ & rave activator. As a DJ he possesses an amazing level of restraint that balances his ball-of-fire spirit. He brings a focused intention to the community as an organizer, tapping into the spiritual frequencies that go beyond the surface. In 2014, he started New York City’s GROOVY GROOVY party - a judgment-free atmosphere for wild dance floors, spiritual, mental & physical rejuvenation, radical politics, and a dose of undeniably rocking talent. Akanbi has made an impression with visionary sets across the globe at select spaces like Guggenheim Museum, Sustain Release, Nowadays, Dekmantel, Horst, OIL Club Shanghai, WWW Tokyo, Berghain/Panorama Bar, Corsica Studios, Primavera Sound Barcelona et al.

Artist Biosketch: yoniyachtclub 🧬 Tuesday January 6th @bossanovacivicclub 10pm - 4am Free all night @yoniyachtclub (they/m) brings a selection and curation driven by desire to play loud sounds that remind us of something bigger and deeper. Hailing from Atlanta, they are known across southern dance floors for bold blends, obsessing over booming drums, and occasionally incorporating live instrumentation, outside of the CDJ. Passionate about us reclaiming technological agency, their process is rooted in techodisobediance and resisting algorithmic capture. Currently, Meghna is focused on creating instruments, synths, and speakers that destruct and build worlds that we can revel in. it’s their first time playing at bossa ~ and they’re excited ~😈

We’d like to thank everyone that participated in our exploratory studies this year 🧫 Thank you to the mad scientists for their sonic potions, to friends and dancers for supporting our hypotheses, and to staff at the laboratories we’ve brought our lens to @bossanovacivicclub @moodringnyc @jupiter_disco It takes an ecosystem to synthesize connectivity, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everyone that made this year’s Synapse possible 🧬 That being said, our next experiment is just around the corner… official announcement soon. Until then, keep it curious 💭 Flyer art: @maracuya.jugosa

Artist Biosketch: Jalpari b2b LTE 🧬 Monday August 25th @bossanovacivicclub 10pm - 4am Free all night Jalpari is a NC-born Indian-American musician based in Brooklyn, NY. While their artistic practice was sourced by the euphoric feeling of collective acoustic sound (orchestra), their artistry is currently sustained by the restorative nature of existing inside amplified sound. They were introduced to the transformative force of a proper sound system on dance floors in Hong Kong and Copenhagen, and moving to Brooklyn has opened their eyes to the deconstructive potential of a DJ set. Brooklyn’s rave ecosystem is teaching them that the DJ-2-Dancefloor energy circuit can recreate ancient forms of socializing that (nowadays) tend to only exist in the dark. Jalpari’s sets aim to activate this sacred space to give you something real you can blend into your journey when the lights turn on. LTE synthesizes entropic sonic experiences by generating blends that coalesce cultures with nature and a genre-bending ethos. Whether it’s seamlessly mixing celestial electro, perky bass club, or hypnotic techno, LTE leaves minds enthralled by the left fielded nature of their DJ style. LTE creates a sacred, yet, pulsating atmosphere through their ceaseless sound evolution which resonates with the unapologetic ravers and the whimsical insurgents who populate her dance floors. pc: @jpgsbyjx

Artist Biosketch: chuki 🧬 Monday August 25th @bossanovacivicclub 10pm - 4am Free all night chuki lives on the gradient between skittering deconstructed club, highly conceptualized art music and full-on bangers. Why choose one when you can have it all? Albums like “let all your biometric phlegm out” oscillate between straight-to-the-jugular percussive directness and twisted metal car crash sonics. The expansiveness is quintessentially diasporic and NY at the same time - their most fucked up moments sound like the M train going overhead during the carnival. FKA lawd knows, a member of SCRAAATCH and a former affiliate of the essential NON Worldwide, chuki has been a vital presence in the east coast club underground for years. They have delivered dynamic sets for Dripping (for the Groovy Groovy platform), Shock Value, Fame Kills, Hyperdub among other nights for open ended club sonics. pc: @koljaaaaa__

A summer resident at Jupiter Disco, her sets traverse house, techno, bass, electro and beyond, infused with the textures of her Pakistani roots.
