Funny how things come full circle. Working on a cycling cap and a musette bag for @velo.star.cafe
Back in a past life I used to produce bike fashion shows in SF where my little apartment was constantly full of caps and bags and bike apparel! Feels like a lifetime ago! Remembering the days of Pedal Savvy ❤️ and all the rad folks who were a part of it!
So satisfying to see this stack of completed samples and custom pieces for @connallygoods
All the dedicated work from the last couple days summed up in a lovely little stack❤️
So fresh….so clean😂

Always good to test first❤️
We love this button hole machine! The upgrade was worth every penny!
Finishing up some @connallygoods Amy trouser samples! They are super CUTE in this striped fabric 😍

Work in progress….fun overall project where we get to flex our pattern making and construction skills😍

Feeling pretty good about this progress. Got these done this week in addition to pattern making, sample cutting, production management and being a mom taxi❤️.

Vulnerable post. It’s been a challenging few weeks for everyone on this continent. With general life stuff but also the overwhelming darkness coming from the US. Many small businesses and brands are really stressed about the looming threat of tariffs. I would venture to say that many of us are holding on by a thread and the idea of tariffs could be the final thing to push businesses to make the hard decision to close. With all the darkness and uncertainty it is important that we notice the small magic that happens around us helping to get us through each day.
Randomly hearing @connallygoods on the radio today was the little magic I needed to inspire me to continue to fight to create and manufacture locally.
With the changing dynamics in our industry here in Vancouver- (less local manufacturing demand/lots of factories closing) I have had to downsize and pick up the slack a bit. Step away from Gerber and start sewing again. The cover stitch has always been my personal weak spot . Not anymore! Cover stitch binder unlocked and looking beautiful ❤️.

Perfectly matching plaids takes some serious mental gymnastics- either you do it in the marker planning phase or the construction phase. Not sure which is more complicated 😂.
In again on this long weekend even though I am exhausted from seeing Ladytron last night which was amazing btw. These are the trade offs mom entrepreneurs often have to make to also be the main support for their children. As we go into the new school year it will be up to me to carry the brunt of the responsibility because my husband is the higher wage earner. It becomes a real balancing act. Here we go!
Definitely the most glamorous part of working in fashion. But super important nonetheless. We make sure to responsibly dispose of all plastic and fabric waste created during development and production ❤️
