I have always responded to a ‘good’ title or album theme when developing the imagery for both an album’s front cover, and illustrations for the lyrics themselves.
Case in point - Dane Clark’s evocative title for his new album “Gurus, Hitmen and Heaven”.
No lack of provocative possibilities there!
This is the cover artwork for the new Dane Clark and the Backroom Boys album. Dane is a great friend and has made another stellar album.
Along with being drummer with John Mellencamp these past 28 (?) years, and an accomplished singer/songwriter in his own right — he is also co-host, along with Andy Wilson, on our podcast (musicbuzzzpodcast.com) .. complete with the resonant tone of the classic FM DJ!
Andy and I saw Dane and his Backroom Boys playing recently. His live show is something to behold. His energy, and tireless performance, both as lead singer and guitarist, are pretty remarkable. Try to see him live if you can!

Midnight Messiah - the new single
It’s so cool that Mike is back with Dream Theater ... he being my original ‘point person’ discussing artwork for the band from the “Octavarium” days. Now John Petrucci has picked up that graphic mantle these past many years.
This song also marks Mike’s first lyrical contribution since 2009.

Orion hails from the UK. This is the project of multi-instrumentalist Ben Jones. Yes, he plays all the instruments on the album. His slogan is “Telling the story of finding awareness”, which I think is a vital piece for understanding this record.
The music here is progressive rock, pure and simple. The music overall has a sense of light and wonder to it, and maybe a hint of sadness and mystery. A beautiful melancholy.

I am so honored and proud to be a part of yet another Dream Theater album project. Especially with this 16th album titled “Parasomnia” ... it was a dream project (pun intended) .... as parasomnia has to do with sleeping and dreaming.
Parasomnias are a category of sleep disorders that involve abnormal movements, behaviors, emotions, perceptions, and dreams that occur while falling asleep, sleeping, between sleep stages, or during arousal from sleep. Parasomnias are dissociated sleep states which are partial arousals during the transitions between wakefulness, NREM sleep, and REM sleep, and their combinations.
A perfect fit for this art director who enjoys living in the “improbable reality and dream state” realms!
Their new Single “Night Terror” just released ... and they just unveiled the album’s title and cover artwork as of October 10. The album release date will be February 7, 2025.
Congratulations to the original cast members on the announcement of the 16th studio album from the incandescent Dream Theater!
