WEDS 25th Feb at 18:30, our FINAL screening in the Films For Workers series hits Screen 1. A delightful story of immigration and found family, Sarah Maldoror’s 1981 made-for-TV film UN DESSERT POUR CONSTANCE is warm-hearted, humorous and incisive. The inseparable Bokolo and Mamadou are Senegalese émigrés in Paris, working as street sweepers to help a sick friend return home. When they stumble upon a 19th-century French cookbook, they decide to enter a prestigious cooking quiz show. We are thrilled to be welcoming Phoebe Beckett Chingono of @junegivannifilmarchive for an extended introduction to the film.  See you then!

Less than 2 weeks to go before our launch screening of FILMS FOR WORKERS! Jan 18th at 15:30pm - we kick off the season with American arthouse classic KILLER OF SHEEP (1979) by Charles Burnett. KILLER OF SHEEP examines life in the Black Los Angeles ghetto of Watts in the mid-1970s through the eyes of Stan, a sensitive dreamer who is growing detached and numb from the psychic toll of working at a slaughterhouse.  The screening will be introduced by season curator Sylvie Dumont, followed by a group discussion with free tea and coffee.  [KILLER OF SHEEP delivered courtesy of Cinema Rediscovered on Tour, a Watershed project in collaboration with Park Circus and StudioCanal. With support from BFI awarding funds from The National Lottery.] Programme supported by Film Hub London, managed by Film London.
