Weavings that embody the story of human horse connections with horsehair from my beloved Dolly, Charlie Brown ( my momās horse she lost last year) and a friend Irish pony Kieran bring life to each piece.
What to do with the shoes that horses wear out and canāt use anymore ā¦. Make artwork out of them. A few are even from my horse!
Itās an interesting challenge to work on such a small scale with the tiny shoes up to the dinner plate sized one from one of the biggest horses I have ever known. No horses were hurt to collect the hair -they just got little hair cuts.
These horse shoe pieces will debut next week at the @smithsoniancraftshowsswc !

Taking a leap into new artistic adventures always feels a bit intimidating, whether itās trying out fresh techniques or exploring different subjects. For me, this is a pretty big oneāgoing back to horses as my inspiration after 12 years and mixing it into my weaving and adding embroidery, which I havenāt done in a while. Iām a little rusty, but Iām really enjoying diving into it. Iām starting to get excited about where this journey might lead and what new ideas will come from this exploration.
Have you ever hesitated to try out a new subject or technique?

I had such a fantastic tim teaching a weekend workshop for the Seattle Weaver Guild! I showed the students how to break out of the usual rectangular weaving patterns, and they really had a great time. Mixing art with weaving can push a lot of weavers beyond their comfort zones, and it was such a bright spot during what was otherwise a pretty tough weekend in the USA. It was inspiring to see these women stretch their design and weaving muscles and create such unique shapes on their looms.

This year, I am really focusing on sharing my journey of creating artwork more openly. During the winter solstice, I set 13 intentions, and each night I burned one of them. The very last one I pulled out on January 2 is the one I am fully responsible forāāBe bold in sharing my story of artā!
Honestly, that might have been the toughest one to face. Iāve often hesitated to share because Iām not even totally sure whyāI just know I want to try letting go of some of that fear. So here I am, figuring out how to embrace that challenge and see where this journey takes me. #weaver #wovenpainting #birdinspired #wovenstories
It happened. I combined my art with my passion for horses in a quick little photoshoot with my friend @ardenpaigeshelton and my mom @mamasogs !
I have struggled with combining my two passions but it feels like the right time to explore combining the two in new ways. Letās see what happens when I allow these worlds to meld together!
The shop is updated and surprise I am running a SALE! 15% off scarves and shawls and 10% hand dyes and painted yarns!
Please consider shopping small businesses - itās been a rough one for many and I know that we all get so excited when we see or hear an order come in!

One of my favorite things about shaped edges is how they bring movement into the cloth and exposed unwoven yarnā like the various flight patterns of birds and the flutter of falling leaves.
In this workshop, weāll explore:
⢠shaped edges that stay secure and intentional
⢠connecting forms vs letting them stand alone
⢠hands-on practice from simple to expressive
⢠space to experiment, supported at your own pace
All skill levels welcome ā Iāll meet you right where you are.
If your weaving wants more curiosity and less perfection, I would love to weave alongside you.
š 2-day workshop ā registration open now at the Seattle Weavers Guild.
Thereās a moment in weaving when the cloth reminds us that it doesnāt have to stay inside the lines ā and thatās exactly what this upcoming workshop is about. šæ
Iām opening registration for āBeyond Rectangles: Shaped Edges in Weaving,ā a two-day, hands-on exploration where we let the edges wander, curve, dip, and surprise us.
Whether youāre newer to weaving or have years at the loom, if you can dress a loom, youāre ready to join me on this creative detour.
š January 24-25
⨠Limited spots ā I keep these workshops intimate so everyone gets attention.
If your weaving practice is asking for something a little braver⦠this is a beautiful place to begin. Save your spot through the link in my bio
