đïžâš A new episode of Seeds of Hope: a climate storytelling podcast is out NOW!
This week, we hang out with @pacific_paige , a former Top 25 Environmentalist Under 25 and Youth Environmental Changemaker Summit delegate. Paige has spent over ten years in climate advocacy spaces, from attending a UN Climate Change Conference to co-founding @swordfernco .đż
Through her work at Sword Fern Collective, Paige is showing that arts has a means of not only bringing people physically together, but also offers a unique way to build climate and emotional resilience that folks long for. đšđ
âȘïž Hear more about Paigeâs journey in youth environmental advocacy and community building on the full episode, link in bio but also wherever you get your podcasts (no, we're not tired of saying that!).
â This podcast was produced with support from the @storyhive grant program. The full video episode drops on Storyhiveâs YouTube channel June 16th, and you got to believe us that these episodes are worth the watch! đș

monica is so special.. we met through mutual friends, and one day she came to my past summer climate circles series @the_climateconnect . since then sheâs been a light, in this space, and beyond for me. Her project, Weaving Climate Knowledge, at @building21.ca as a BLUE Fellow, looked at bridging the climate science (both physical science and environmental theory) with climate action through artistic and community practices.
The resulting project and zine, âsinging to the extinctâ is featured in the next @swordfernco snail mail fern club đ±đ± very apt and full circle if you watch her beautiful response until the end.

We're wrapping up Women's History Month with a conversation that feels like the right note to end on.
Erica Binder â trumpet player, Sword Fern Collective co-founder, and self-described extraordinarily shy kid â on what it means to claim space when every single time still feels like being chased by a bear.
On leopard-print grandmothers and climate futures. On the tension between excellence and agreeableness. On performing slam poetry in public and learning to offer yourself the same grace you'd give anyone else.
"Women totally rule," she says. And then she gets on with it.

sword fern collective co-lead @victorsyin is a Climate75 Fellow! In recognition of Victor's creative, heart-centred leadership, they'll be joining a cohort of 75 youth from across Canada to learn, grow, and implement climate solutions. This inaugural cohort from @thestarfishca builds on the Top 25 Environmentalist Under 25 program to expand learning opportunities and skill building.
This weekend, Victor will be attending The Starfish Canada's Youth Environmental Changemakers Summit in SkwxwĂș7mesh! We can't wait to hear about Victor's experience.
Thereâs no ârightâ way to support climate action or build safer, more resilient communities. But it can start with you!
You already have a ton of skills! Listening, changing your mind, being open, patience, humour, curiosity, and being able to ask for help are all skills that are essential to transformation and systems change - that is compassionate and human-centered.
Start where you are. Build emotional skills and literacy. Practice being mindful and regulated. These arenât distractions, itâs how we create the capacity to tackle the challenges around us without burning out.
lets get off that high horse and out of the ivory tower!! Climate solutions need to be by and for working people because thatâs, well, most people. At sword fern weâre spending this year looking into how we can build better blue-collar solutions, and hopefully bring more people into the climate space by making it less intimidating and more meaningful.
What âsustainability solution did you go hard for in the past?

Whatâs it like to be a climate journalist right now?
In this personal essay, @allisongacad explores the challenges that come with climate reporting and âobjectivityâ in journalism. Allison reflects on Trumpâs impact on the climate movement, and the struggle of finding meaning during difficult times.
Allison is a climate journalist covering science, environment, and climate news for Canadian and international outlets, based on unceded Coast Salish lands in Vancouver.
