@adobe brought @AdobeFirefly to the @thewebbyawards Creator Weekend and honestly it was exactly what it should be… 700+ creators, great panels, real conversations, and a live activation where what you created could be shown in Times Square.
But what I keep thinking about is the people. Getting to be in a room with this community, connecting face to face, reminds me why I do this. There’s nothing that replaces that.

A decade ago I thought getting here would fix everything. It didn’t. I was dealing with depression, addiction, and a version of myself I didn’t fully like… and no amount of success was going to outrun that. I’m completely sober now, and honestly that means everything.
What changed my life was the inner work. Done alongside it all, not after. Money and success don’t change you. They amplify who you already are. So I made sure I was someone worth amplifying first.
Sometimes I do something so simple… I look up on the road and catch the light barely touching the trees. That’s what being well feels like. Quiet. Present. Real. Do that work. It’s the only thing that makes the rest mean something. ❤️
Since I was ten years old; I’ve taught myself how to make things digitally with Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, After Effects, and so much more… and the obsession with an idea never changes, only how far I can take it. ✨

15 years ago I was told I wasn’t a real artist. Wasn’t a real photographer. Before I ever claimed to be anything, before I gave myself a single title, people were already lining up to tell me what I wasn’t. Who I should be. How I should create. What counted and what didn’t.
I was creating on my phone because that’s all I had. I was altering images. Making things that didn’t exist in nature the way I presented them. And apparently that was a problem. It wasn’t a problem for me.
What I was doing, what I’m still doing… comes from imagination. From feeling. From a part of me that needed to express something the world didn’t have a category for yet. A giraffe in a city. A waterfall where it has no business being. Sometimes I barely touch a photo. Sometimes I transform it completely. I don’t have to be one thing. I never did.
15 years later I’m still here. Still leaving people guessing. The uncertainty is the point. The wonder is the point. The fact that you have to look twice is the whole thing.
So no, I never became what they wanted me to be. 🌸
Most people clean up a photo and call it done. I use @Photoshop beta’s new General Distractions feature to decide what’s worth keeping… because not everything that seems like a distraction is actually in the way.
The man and his doggo are my focus. The wires, the sign, the poles? I love them. That’s MY creative choice. Yours might be completely different, which is exactly why this feature is so epic.
If you’re shooting real places with real life in them, this tool just changed your workflow. 👏🏽✨
P.S. I’m a surrealist who’s been adding giraffes and waterfalls to photos for 14 years. Wabi-sabi means something a little different over here. 😭❤️
