What is Lindy Hop?
Lindy hop is a partner dance that emerged during the 1930s and 40s in Harlem, New York alongside Big Band swing and jazz. Just like the blues, this art form rose from the Afro American community and eventually became mainstream, spreading to Europe and the rest of the world during World War II.
A joyful and improvisational dance, it is a wonderful way to connect with a partner and with music. A few simple guidelines are all you need to get you started and swinging out! For more info, visit www.swingstation.sg

World Lindy Hop Day is a time when we celebrate the dance, the community and the dancers that have come before us to build up a legacy for us to enjoy.
This year we want to celebrate all the people who laid the groundwork for our local, national, and international Lindy Hop community. We want to celebrate the early Singapore dancers, to ensure the current community know them and to recognise whose shoulders they are standing on. It’s important that younger generations of dancers meet you and hear your stories and experiences, maybe meeting with Frankie or Dawn.
So if you ever danced Lindy Hop with us in Singapore, no matter how long ago, please come down on 25 May (or any Monday!) and meet the dancers who are now learning the Charleston or swing out.

Yay we're back on IG! On 1st April, our account was hacked (unfortunately not an April Fool's joke). The hacker had sent spam messages to our Followers (both the dancing AND the online kind). We're sorry if you were impacted.
Our account was immediately revoked and it was kinda stressful trying to get it back.
Thankfully it's now been re-instated and re-secured. Thank you to friends who reached out to help 🙏! And yes, we have put in some security measures in place to help prevent this from happening again! We're so grateful to have this online voice again to reach out to you all!
