☁️„Градове с въображение“ е ново дигитално издание и (почти) наръчник за изследвания и намеси в градската среда, вдъхновено от практиката на „Девет слона“ (2022–2025). 📓Изданието включва 22 артистични проекта, възникнали в конкретни градски ситуации и представени през първите две издания на фестивала “Девет слона”, както и публичните програми на Центъра за социална визия. 💁🏻‍♀️В наръчника ще откриете и упражнения за въображение в градска среда, както и към всеки проект присъства секцията „Ако искаш, опитай“, която предлага спекулативни възможности за прилагане на представените методологии в други среди. Heritage Practices: On Water, Weeds, and Ruins was a panel discussion co-organized by Afield Practice and the non-profit art project space Swimming Pool on Feb. 15, 2026. Leaders of local cultural institutions and professionals in economics, art, and architecture spoke about the diverse range of heritage practices within Bulgaria and their broader implications beyond the region. There could not have been a more fitting site to host this conversation than the chitalishte, a UNESCO-protected community center. Located in every city and village, this unique building typology from the mid-19th century functions as a forum for exchange on art, education, and culture within the local community and, more broadly, as a disparate network for knowledge production around intangible heritage across the country. Image 5: Yanina Taneva @yaninataneva , co-founder of Ideas Factory Sofia and BABA residence, shared a new initiative titled Thermoculture that aims to preserve the intangible heritage of thermal waters in Bulgaria, which has the second highest concentration of mineral springs in Europe after Iceland. Image 6: Ivo Anev @ivoanev , an economist and lecturer at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, delved into questions of the commons, tourism, and mineral spring water as a resource. Image 7: Andrea Popyordanova @andrea.popyordanova is an image maker and graphic designer. Through exploratory walks with local community, oral history and ethnobotany, her projects Neither a City, Nor a Garden and The Orchards of Mladost center on the silent (his)stories of the weeds and fruit trees around Sofia. Image 8: Dora Ivanova @buzludzhaproject is an architect and social entrepreneur who founded Project Buzludzha Foundation. She shared her professional experience around preserving Buzludzha, a dissonant heritage site from Bulgaria’s communist era, and how she has navigated competing narratives and aspirations for the space over the past decade. In 2023 I collaborated with the team around Viktoria Draganova @ Swimming Pool Sofia. As part of their platform Center for Social Vision, we created a deck of cards that is partly a card game, partly a publication:writing, partly a social space in English and Bulgarian. The illustrations were made by Andrea Popyordanova, who also published another beautiful book:booklet @ Center for Social Vision. for anyone interested, I recently got some more decks of cards from the recent re-print sent to me from Sofia with love. Савина Топурска 🔹„Басейнът“, фотография, 2015 По незавършения филм Something’s Got to Give на Джордж Кюкор с участието на Мерилин Монро. Фотография, заснета в една от правителствените резиденции на Тодор Живков – дългогодишен ръководител на Народна република България (1954–1989). Изображението е дигитално преработено и доближава естетиката на живописта. Това пространство е придобило почти иконичен статут, съпоставим с този на Мерилин. Тя се появява като вградена проекция на отложен спомен, в тялото на една архитектура, белязана от миналото. Една образна призрачност – извън времето. 🔹„Резиденцията“ - фотографска серия (III и IV), 2017 Серията представя шест фотографии (тук са показани III и IV) от личния апартамент на Тодор Живков в Сандански — пространство, което никога не е било реновирано и за което се твърди, че самият Живков не е обитавал. До затварянето на резиденцията през 2020 г., тя функционира като част от хотелски комплекс, в който това помещение е било достъпно за гости. В тези изображения се усеща присъствието на отсъствието, отпечатъка на властта без тя самата да е видима. Място, което не говори, но пази спомена. Един интериор, застинал във времето — като сянка на миналото. *** JUMP! Urban Storytelling School x Sofia Residency Between July 15–20, 2025, the second phase of the Urban Storytelling School exchange brought Berlin participants to Sofia, following our March edition in Berlin. For 5 days, the residency combined hands-on project work, field exploration, and fast-paced collaborative sessions, pushing ideas forward while immersing participants in Sofia’s urban life. 🟣Maria and Ksenia did field work, collecting interviews with Sofia youth and mapping perspectives that fed into ‘ZEHN / Десет – Chain Travel Card’, while the ‘Finding Home’ group built an immersive installation bringing migration stories and urban memory to life. The days balanced independent experimentation, collaborative feedback, and structured mentorship, letting participants test, refine, and expand ideas quickly. 📖We held a discussion about the upcoming Urban Storytelling School publication, where participants debated formats, storytelling strategies, and ways to make their work travel beyond the residency. We met with Vladiya Mihaylova, chief curator of Toplocentrala and a key figure in Sofia’s public art scene. Vladiya shared experience transforming institutions, activating public spaces, and connecting art with community, answering questions and offering guidance on navigating the city’s artistic landscape. ☁️The residency closed with a high-impact showcase: Sofia participants presented finished projects at the Nine Elephants Festival, while Berlin participants presented their progress at the Imagining Cities symposium, receiving feedback from an international audience. 🟣Through formal sessions, exploratory walks, reflective brunches, and collaborative dinners, the residency fostered intercultural dialogue and demonstrated how immersive exchange accelerates ideas, enriches perspectives, and builds networks across cities. #UrbanStorytellingSchool #NineElephantsFestival #Residency #PublicArt #CulturalExchange #Sofia #Berlin #CreativeDialogue

Образ, за който едва ли някой се сеща, когато мисли за басейн. А басейнът, все пак, трябва да се почисти, когато партито вече е приключило. Чистачът е и контрапункт на толкова буржоазния обект – басейнът. Обикновено в масовката на филма, но тук исках да го изведа на преден план – някой да говори за него, някой да мисли върху битието му, след като свали униформата.“ 💬 Как стенните рисунки „намесТват“ пространството? „Не бих ги нарекъл намеса – те не са родени от рефлексия спрямо архитектурата на галерията. По-скоро са едно тихо намесТване – сякаш дошли да почистят, без да досаждат на другите работи.
