Head position when swimming is very important. What we do with our head when we breathe is a very common issue with new swimmers (and some experienced swimmers). Think about standing proud in the water and feeling the connection between the water and the top of your head. #swimcube #swimcoach #swimtips #instaswim #triathlon

WHY IS TECHNIQUE SO IMPORTANT IN IRONMAN SWIMMING This week I went back to basics. Having swam competitively as a kid, this was always going to be my strongest discipline in the journey from zero to Ironman. With recent swim tests all showing promising speed and progress, it would have been easy to just stay where I was. However, there is always room for improvement. I took a visit to @swimcube , who spent an hour with me correcting poor habits and form that have creeped in over the years. I was super impressed with the set up and coaching and am all ready eyeing up my next session when I have worked on the points identified today. If you get the chance, highly recommend taking a visit to @swimcube no matter what your experience. I have left feeling motivation and ready to nail this technique over the next month to bring me greater speed and endurance in the long run. THE WHY Water magnifies everything. A dropped elbow, poor body position, or late breath instantly increases drag and slows you down. That’s why swimming isn’t about fighting harder — it’s about moving smarter. Strong technique keeps the body long and balanced, allowing you to cut through the water instead of pushing against it. A proper catch and pull create propulsion, not wasted splashing. Clean kick timing supports the stroke, stabilizes the body, and maintains rhythm. When technique is efficient, energy is conserved. You swim farther with less fatigue, maintain speed longer, and recover faster between efforts. This is why technically sound swimmers often outperform stronger ones. Master technique first. Speed, strength, and endurance are built on top of it. #ironman #swimming #triathlon #technique #form

Getting time with stu from swimcube is like gold dust, to look at stroke work and adapting n configuration (basically bad habits) to help reach goals of being better in the water. I have classed stu as my coach from a far but he always manages to help loads. With the help of @swimyourswim On a swim camp in Lanza - im pushing to get some fitness back in as well as technique. It doesn’t matter what level of coach or swimmer you are — everyone needs another coach to keep them sharp. After more than 25 years of coaching, I still value having someone else’s eyes on my technique. That’s why I see Stu from Swim Cube as my coach. He spots things I might miss and helps me keep improving, even though he lives a long way away. Getting a coach for swimming is one of the best ways to improve safely and effectively. A coach provides expert guidance on technique, helps build structured training plans, and identifies areas for improvement that you might miss on your own. They keep you motivated, ensure your sessions are purposeful, and help prevent injury by correcting bad habits early. Whether you're learning to swim, building endurance, or chasing performance goals, a good coach helps you progress faster and with confidence. Of course tagging Coached sessions by professionals With years of experience @swimyourswim @swimcube @h2otrails I travel for my coaching as its worth every penny

Loving the @sonr.pro headsets … I’ll post a video demonstrating these next week. In short -a game changer allowing me to use verbal cues while the swimmer is practicing. #swimcube #sonr #swimcpaching #swimcoach #swimtech #swimming #swimlife #swimfast #triathlon #triathloncoach

Just over 11 weeks since breaking the longest single event triathlon @guinnessworldrecords and the charity page has now closed. I’m pleased to announce that we have raised a massive £6,300 for @newleaflinfo - a charity who help children (many of whom have SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) or have experienced trauma) engage with education. The money raised has supported new leaf in hiring an additional teacher and increasing their offering. As the father of an autistic boy (who attended new leaf), I chose the longest single-event triathlon for some very specific reasons. In short, it represented how society expects children with SEND to function. 📝 It was a challenge where you had to follow prescribed rules to the letter, and if you deviated from those rules then the outcome was that you had failed. ⏱️ It was a multidisciplinary record that required quick transition between activities (transitions could not last longer than 5 minutes) and if you couldn’t transition in time, you had failed. 🙇‍♂️It was a hectic long-distance, multi day event where you needed to maintain focus and concentrate for the duration, you could have no rest or time to process what had happened before. To survive the attempt I needed the same things many SEND children do: coping mechanisms to remain resilient, a support network who figured out my needs - even when I didn’t articulate them clearly; and, a clear understanding of the expectations I had to meet and what was coming next. A huge thank you once again to everyone who made it possible as well as those who donated! Bring on 2026’s challenge. @sumarpo_official @swimcube @bikebarnworkshop @topo_land_surveys @precisionfandh @1dalehardiman @gemmaehopkin @wendyjhopkin @steve_hop @shrubby1973 @alexprestontrust @athletemediagroup #triathlon #send #ultraendurance

Can’t replicate your pool pace in open water ? There are so many reasons for this, but don’t let it be effort: 1. Work your technique like you do in the pool 2. Work on specific open water skills 3. Adapt stroke for conditions and 4. FIND YOUR THRESHOLD #swimcube #swimcoach #swimmer #triathloncoach #triathlon #triathlete #seimlife #instaswim #swimming #openwaterswim #swimfast
