We are excited to introduce this incredible lineup of artists for their upcoming residencies at Cap Karoso!
𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐛 | 21.02 - 08.03
A photographer, filmmaker, and podcast host, Matt’s work focuses on exploring the relationship between land, people, and cultural memory. At Cap Karoso,
@mattyj_ay will immerse himself in the cultural heart of Kodi, working through photography, filmmaking, and podcasting to gently document and honour the rhythms, knowledge, and living heritage of the Sumbanese community.
𝐉𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 | 24.03 - 10.04
Following the meaningful personal and creative exchange he experienced last year with us,
@jake_paul_white is coming back for his second residency at Cap Karoso. This time, he will focus on community engagement by creating murals with local school children in Kodi and introducing them to the foundations of painting, while continuing to experiment with Sumba’s natural dyeing techniques and locally sourced pigments.
𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐗 & 𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐒 | 30.04 - 22.05
FLOX (Hayley King) and SWEATS (Pierre Hadlow) come together through a shared approach rooted in place, process, and exchange. In Sumba, they will learn from ikat weaving and carving traditions while sharing stencil, drawing, and compositional techniques through open, community-focused collaboration, blending
@floxnz layered stencil practice with
@sweats___ bold, instinct-driven exploration of colour, rhythm, and human form.
