I got my 2nd tattoo in December. Many of you may know that @meghan.wasserman and I experienced the heartbreaking loss of a pregnancy this summer. Through all the joyful experiences of travel, making music, and time spent with friends and family this fall, I’ve been carrying a persistent grief. It’s easy to bury it in work, and I’ve gotten good at that. But facing it, sitting with it, and accepting it does much more to help me manage it. So I wanted a permanent reminder, a memorial to the loss that also exists as a symbol of hope. This design by @bobbymaytattoo is exactly what I was looking for - with a few budding leaves representing the possibility of new growth, and space left on the branch to hopefully add another small bird to our family. But we’ll always remember the one that flew away. Talking about miscarriage is hard. It’s just as hard for men. I’m grateful for and inspired by Meghan’s openness about her experience and I want to follow in her example. If anyone wants to talk about their own experience or ask me about mine, I’m here. You’re not alone.

2025 was busy and wonderful and heartbreaking and exhausting and thrilling. Looking back through my photos from this year made me realize how lucky I was to spend so much time with family and friends (too many to tag but you know who you are!), and to be doing what I love. Here’s my year in review, in reverse… December - Holidays in Florida and Connecticut, learning Dorico, opening & Juliet in Toronto November - Teching & Juliet in Toronto, Zootopia workshop, Queen of Versailles opening, friends in NYC October - Working Girl in La Jolla! September - Queen of Versailles tech, my 37th birthday, making wine from fresh North Fork grapes! August - HamilTEN, my first tattoo, a new puppy for Violet and Harvey, and Switzerland July - Brooklyn Cyclones with friends, CT cottage, Willamette trip with Erik and Jill, Maine with family June - Performing with Benny & Chris, Harvey’s dance recital, bottling Kia Ora, Freak the Mighty workshop, Babymetal concert May - Miami, meeting Alice, Lac’s 50th, Lin’s Town Hall Gala, Beyoncé April - Alice is born, Carnegie Hall, Meghan’s 35th birthday, making Kia Ora March - Gypsy with Shannon and Marc, Nashville, and NOLA February - Redwood opening, Killington with family & neighbors January - Good Morning America, the Today Show, teching Redwood, and ringing in 2025

And I couldn’t have done this one (literally) without the incredible work of @noremi.wav , who crushed their Broadway debut! When people ask how this summer was, I’ve struggled to answer. On one hand, I had incredible experiences: spent time with my chosen communities and traveled to beautiful places. On the other hand, I experienced the most heart wrenching grief imaginable. In June, I had a miscarriage. At 8 weeks I was told there was no heartbeat and had a d&c to end the pregnancy. Scott and I mourned the loss of our baby together. I’ll forever be grateful to those who showed up for us, and me specifically, during this time. This period has taught me a lot about my own strength, resilience, and how to let people in. I’m thankful to my care team who guided me with empathy. I’m thankful to live in NY where I could have my d&c without having to justify why, wait, or be denied care. I’m thankful to my Mom who dropped everything to fly up to be with me. I’m forever thankful to Scott who carried me through this season while navigating his own grief. My experience is not unique. The more I’ve shared about my loss the more I learned about others’. I wanted to share about my own, because through this I’ve learned how taboo miscarriage actually still is. People have responded in ways that hurt, unconsciously but still. Grief is uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean we should be silent while experiencing it to make others more comfortable. Ask people how they are doing. Talk about their lost loved one. Don’t ignore their pain. Just because I never got to hold my baby on the outside does not mean every second I held my baby on the inside didn’t matter. This tattoo is my permanent memorial I’ll carry forever. Our baby was due mid January, so this is an outline of the Capricorn constellation with snowdrop and carnation flowers. I have always said that I would get a tattoo if there was something important enough I wanted on my body forever. And I knew this would be the perfect first tattoo❤️‍🩹

I got a tattoo! Been dreaming this one up for a while, and committed to getting it for #HamilTen. There are a few layers of meaning here - aside from just Hamilton being on the Ten and @hamiltonmusical being on Broadway for 10 years, I’m also working on my 10th Broadway show this fall (@qovmusical ). Also, ten in musical notation can represent the articulation tenuto, which means to hold a note for its full value. I see this tattoo as a metaphorical reminder to hold onto important moments and people in my life for their full value. Enormous thanks to @inked_nyc and the brilliant @deannabtattoos for bringing the design to life in such exquisite detail!

10 years of @hamiltonmusical on Broadway. This show changed my life in innumerable ways. The security and stability it has given me, the lifelong friends I’ve gained, the artistic challenges, achievements and opportunities it has afforded me and the places around the world it has taken me… I will never be able to thank @lin_manuel and @alacamoire enough. I’m just a kid who was given a chance, in the right place at the right time, and I’ll never take it for granted. These are some pictures that I took but never posted, from between August 1st and August 8th, 2015. 1.) I sent Meghan at least 3 different versions of outfits to wear and ended up going with the classic mostly-black 2.) My then-girlfriend, now wife of almost 9 years, the gorgeous, supportive, Wonder-woman, @meghan.wasserman 3.) Tickets! Meghan is off doing My Fair Lady so I’m bringing my mom as my date 4.) The full company on stage pre-show, with @be_strux wearing the Legacy Robe 5.) Opening Night wishes from other shows 6.) The president of my fan club, @vickiw2036 , riding the double decker bus to the party 7.) Exciting footage of me getting people to say “hi” on the bus lol. Featuring @khiknowsthings 8.) The incredible fireworks display over the Hudson set to our soundtrack at the opening night party 9.) @theroots performing as surprise guests! 10.) My partners in crime, @ianstagramiam and @crodees1 11.) The day-after Opening Night gift & card haul 12.) My grandpa, Bop, who was so proud of everything I did, big or small. I love and miss all my grandparents so much, and I know I wouldn’t have stuck with music or theater as a career if they hadn’t been cheering me on at every performance from the time I was 5. Here’s to the next 10 years! #HamilTEN

Figured I’d join @lin_manuel in a #HamilTen #HamilTuesday walk down memory lane to @nysaf at Vassar College, summer of 2013… 1. A mug that @vickiw2036 had made for me to immortalize the workshop. I use it often. Featuring everyone mentioned below plus @anikachapin & @directorkail 2. My little dorm room (which was much bigger than my first actual college dorm room) 3. Day 1 score binders for @lin_manuel @alacamoire and myself 4. @javiermofficial @joshuahenryofficial and @daveeddiggs hard at work learning music 5. @alacamoire working with the Schuyler Sisters @anikaaroundtheworld @ananogi and @presilah 6. The right side of my setup, with score (open to “Wait For It”) and little MIDI controller keyboard 7. The left side of my setup, with @ableton in use for the first time! Plus lots of sticky notes. 8. My Ableton setup for the presentation, playing lots of beats with little buttons - which is how I got the nickname DJ Buttons. Fun fact: I stood up from behind my buttons and performed the role of Samuel Seabury at this workshop 👀 9. @lin_manuel being his usual cheery self 10. The cast! All mentioned above + utktheinc and a missing @cjack930 11. Maestro @alacamoire , without whom I would have no career. Love you, Lac! 12. utktheinc napping on the train home
