Recently I had to end a friendship with a childhood friend of mine whose substance abuse had become unmanageable. A few years earlier he had been a lifeline for me while I was working through some mental health problems, something I’ll forever be grateful for. Then, as he sunk into his vices, I couldn’t be the life raft that he was for me. I still care about him a lot and I hope he can find his way.
Gatorade Bong is about the conflicting feeling of caring about people that you know you can’t allow in your life, and the guilt of seeing what your absence has done to them.

Nothing to do on Sunday was written in our old band @hakea_band back in the day. It was originally a post-punk song, but we reworked it for this project and had heaps of fun layering heaps of tracks on there ; there’s a piano line heavily inspired by Promises by Floating Points (great album, give it a listen!), an 80s synth we found in an op shop, and Black Cockatoos recorded on Sol’s phone in Witchcliffe (video courtesy of @black_cockatoo_crisis ). We’re super proud of this one and glad it could finally see the light of day :)

Just wrapped on producing this EP with @jacksonchristie.music . I’ve been playing with Jackson’s band for a while and this was a really fun record to work on. Lots of love to Jackson and Amber 🫶
