MEET PENNY 🍵 She will be hosting a workshop this weekend Saturday 25/04 15:00-16:00 ‘Wisdom of Tea’ a guided tea tasting, offering a moment to slow down to observe, to smell, to taste, to sense and to let the spirit of tea lead reveal its stories, one sip at a time. Penny Yiou Peng 彭憶歐 is an interdisciplinary writer, scholar, and dramaturg based in Berlin, with roots in Beijing. Her work spans philosophy, performance, and ecological-sensing dramaturgy, engaging with Daoist cosmology, critical posthumanism, technology, genetics, pre-modern magic practices, and the archaeology of the senses. She examines how artistic and linguistic practices might reach the edges of perception and translate the ineffable into collective sensory experience. In 2022, Penny was called by the spirits of tea trees from the southern mountains. Unexpectedly, she became a tea lover and began exploring tea tasting as part of her artistic research. Penny will be hosting regular events at SVERA. 🤍

Dear all - Next month I’m cohosting an upcoming event alongside @herbody.hermind @svera.studio 🩵 This event is a personal one for me as it is for those who have been touched by cancer. When I was 19, I was diagnosed with melanoma. This was a shock at that age and shifted my life quite a bit. During & afterwards I lived in a bit of fear, and didn’t feel like I had a place to express this grief comfortably, without burdening others around me. Only until a few years later when I began my yoga practice, I was able to connect back into my body and not feel it was trying to harm me. From there things started to shift tremendously for me and it is ultimately what lead me to continue into training to become a yoga teacher myself. Sometimes I can forget where the root of it began, so I’m very grateful to have met Farnaz & to collaborate on this event together. If you or someone you know has had an encounter with cancer or has been close to someone who has, we would love for you to join this upcoming event at SVERA. It will be a space to connect with others - tea - meditation - gong - shared conversation Looking forward 🫶🏻 March 15th 14:00–16:00 Bookable via Eversports - link in bio Photo by @leadventure__ 💞

Gabor Maté’s view that chronic stress and emotional suppression play a central role in cancer is powerful and resonates with many personal stories. His emphasis on compassion and emotional honesty has helped countless people make sense of suffering. But when we look closely at the evidence, a different picture emerges, as shown in this post. For the title of this post, we are grateful to be able to present a photo by Klaudia Lewi @dearklaude for and with Tara Community @tararetreats . The image shown is part of her BODYTALK series. “BODYTALK translates the silent language of the body into a profound reflection of the self. The series uncovers our subtle attraction to natural objects, revealing the link between the physical world and inner perception.“ @dearklaude is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer who explores the psychological boundaries of space by examining the interplay between the body, objects, and their environment. Through her work, she highlights the unique essence of each subject, creating a “portrait of the psyche” that brings the surrounding space to life. Emotional support is essential for persons with cancer and can directly affect the disease course, as shown in this post. We are happy to announce a new and very careful format for persons with cancer by @herbody.hermind and @withsaura , starting at @svera.studio on March 15th, a space to share and reflect, created by two women that have been affected by cancer themselves. How do you view the relationship between emotional life and physical illness? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
