Every summer Inga, her mother and aunt travel west to their lakeside village but the summer Inga is 13, they arrive to find their home and possessions underwater.
Drawing on her own family’s history of forced relocation and violent colonial dispossession, the author’s debut novel brings Sami history to the fore.

Brief Encounters is an enticing and collectable series, launching with 52 authors. The book covers reflect the enthusiasm the Vintage Design team found in this project.
We commissioned 52 artists to respond to each title. The resulting designs convey the range, tone and different voices available in the series.
These editions have been printed on uncoated paper and have illustrated endpapers. They not only look desirable; they feel great to hold.
The only question a book buyer might have is which Brief Encounter to pick first.
